"And where do you think you're going, young lady?" a voice boomed, startling the young woman who was about to sneak out of the house.
She jumped and spun around, her heart pounding in her chest. "Mom! Are you a witch or something? You scared me" She never expected her mother to have stayed in the dark to catch her this way.
"Evelyn, my dear, you could have been honest with me and told me you had a date," her mother said with a laugh. Evelyn groaned and turned towards the light then turned it on. But when she did, she let out a shriek of surprise. Her father was also seated with her mother.
"Dad!" she gasped. "You were supposed to be... I thought you were still at the office!"
"I came home early today" her father said with a stern look.
"I..." Evelyn stammered, flustered.
"You don't need to explain yourself, sweetheart," her mother said, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder then turned to face her husband. "Can't you see? She's dressed like a woman today. She's clearly going on a date. We shouldn't interfere."
Evelyn could have argued that her mother's assumption was wrong, but she decided not to. This was her chance to get out of the house easily.
"Yes, I'm going on a date," she agreed.
"Make sure he comes to visit someday," her father said. "I'd like to meet the man who's made my daughter so eager to wear a mini dress."
Evelyn's mouth fell open. She hadn't been expecting her father to say that. "Dad!" she exclaimed, cheeks flaming red.
It wasn't a man. Seriously, her family was hellbent on using boy issues to make her embarrassed.
"And don't forget your curfew" her dad shouted from behind as she was leaving.
As soon as she had reached outside the house, a short sigh escaped her lips. At that moment, a car pulled over at her place as she got in immediately.
"I wouldn't be going there dressed like this were it not for you" Evelyn huffed at her bestfriend Sydney.
"Lyn, c'mon breath. This party is going to be lit. Carter and the rest will be so intrigued by your total transformation" Sydney was speaking of a party thrown by one of their high school classmate Carter.
The dude invited everyone from their class.
"What total transformation?"
"I took care of your nonsense fashion, thank me first. C'mon look at how sexy I made you look" Sydney mused happily. The girl obviously can't seem to see how pretty she looks.
Several minutes later, they arrived. "Oh my goodness! Syd, you didn't tell me it was a beach party" Evelyn screamed in shock
"Now where's the fun in that if I told you earlier? I get to see this look of shock on your face" Sydney laughed
"Come out of the car, I got your bikini packed" Sydney urged her
"I have no bikini" Evelyn feigned
"Well, you do now. I went shopping for you"
"What?"
"Get over it babe. I got you something that could match your hazel eyes"
"No sydney don't make me do this" Evelyn pouted
Well, Sydney wouldn't have it any other way. She eventually talked her into coming along. Why? Sydney wants to flaunt her bestfriend to the classmates who used to call her a nerd in baggy.
Some used to call her ugly duckling too. Not that she was ugly but because her fashion sense was out of it.
"Hey, Syd!" a dirty blonde haired guy waved at them as they approached the party.
"Oh God," Sydney whispered to Evelyn. "That's Fatso."
Evelyn froze. Fatso? The guy with the worst reputation in school? She hadn't seen him in years. He looked... different.
"He's... cute" Sydney squealed. She grabbed Evelyn by the hand and dragged her over to the blonde guy.
"Man! I love this reunion" he said as soon as they had approached then glanced to sydney's side to meet Evelyn's gaze.
"Syd, you brought a friend I see, a hot one at that" he said then looked at Evelyn seductively.
"Guys, wassup" another dude popped in. "My! My!! Who's this beauty?"
"This hot and sexy girl is our very own Evelyn Olson. Does the name ring a bell?"
"Ugly duckling?" The second guy shouted out of surprise. A couple of people nearby were alarmed too. Who knew they've been listening the whole time?
"Yeah yeah your uglyduckling" Evelyn was feeling embarrassed from the whole attention on her.
She hates attention."So, guys we are going to change into our bikini" Sydney yelled then dragged Evelyn with her. Evelyn did not miss the wink the fatso sent to her.
"Nice to meet you once again, Evie. Name's Anthon" he shouted for her to hear. Ah! What a flirt!
"What the hell? You didn't brief me" Evelyn frowned at Sydney
"I love surprises. Now, here's your bag" Sydney throws her one of the bags with her. "Your bikini. Now go get dressed babe. I'm setting you up with Drew"
Drew's a friend to the host of the party and definitely...
"Drew? That guy's my bully. No! I'm not here for that. Syd, I hate parties. I've gotten enough attention, it's time to go" Evelyn protested."Don't be such a child, Eve. You've been single for so long and Drew's a nice guy. Phew! So my baby girl will finally get a boyfriend. Oh how they grow up so fast" Sydney wipes an imaginary tear from her eyes pushing her into the bathroom on the beach.
A couple of minutes later, a scream broke out of Evelyn's lips from the inside.
"Sydney, this is too reveal..." she came out to tell Sydney but found out the girl had left already. How was she to wear something that looks so revealing.
Why not just walk around naked instead of wasting time putting it on? Whose fashion sense was this As she tried to go back in to pack up the bikini and go back to sydney, a hand grabbed hers. She felt his nails dig deep into her wrist and was even more shocked when she looked at the person only to find herself staring into a pair of yellow eyesA/N:
