When morning rolled around the group began their journey to the capital. Hauling Ranboo around as their prisoner and making sure they got the correct directions. Wilbur was annoyed that he had trusted Ranboo and even had to have caught feelings for Y/N.

Yeah he had a crush on her.

Could you blame him?

Sighing he ran a hand through his hair as the group walked through ruins of what once used to be the earth they once knew. All holding tightly to their swords. The sun was blaring down on them as they had been getting further away from the place they called home. The safe house was about an hour from where they were now. And if they kept up at this pace they should reach it in time for lunch. A grumbling noise was displayed from behind the group and a large group of zombies appeared from over the hill.

"Fuck, there's too many for us four to fight off, we're gonna have to make a run for it."

And that's what they did, ran for the hills, zombies were somewhat slow so they got some distance between them and the zombies chasing after them. Wilbur and the group soon saw an abandoned bunker that was above ground, it looked like it had been barely functioning at all and it looked like nobody had been here in years. The rock was rough with ridges and it was their only hope, their were plenty of tunnels for them to loop around and lose the zombies in the tunnels.

"Do you guys see the bunker as well?" Tommy spoke up, the four nodded as he began to run into it as he rolled onto the grass below and stood up quickly running inside. The rest followed but Charlie had stumbled nearly getting caught by one of the zombies. When they were inside the group had taken a few looks around, most of the doors were collapsed from god knows what. Immediately Wilbur panicked. He realized that the people here was those among the zombies chasing them. This was their home, their territory. They were merely just protecting it.

"Uh guys, we need to get out of here as quick as possible."

"What why? This is our safety from them, we can loop around the bunker and get away from them and back on track to save Y/N." Tommy looked between everyone as Wilbur shook his head.

"This is their home, they're protecting it from us. Look." He held up a photo of the family, sure enough it was the zombies. It was obvious that they were some of the first few that had gotten infected by this god awful virus.

The group took a deep breath and began panicking realizing that they indeed did have to get out of here. Phil formed a plan on how to get out as the group began circling the bunker trying to find any other way out, but the only way out was the way they had came in. Deep in thought Wilbur bit his bottom lip, gripping his sword prepared to fight his way out and get to Y/N, get to save her. This cruel world was shitty and if this was his last few months on earth he was going to make sure he lived them with someone he adored. He couldn't lose Y/N, not before he got the chance to tell her about his feelings, he just hoped that he wouldn't get turned down.

As Phil talked with the group about the plans Wilbur zoned out not paying attention. He was focused on getting out, even though he should've been paying attention to what Phil had been saying. A few words later and they heard footsteps enter the bunker. Swallowing the group split off into the groups they had decided on. Wilbur not having payed attention didn't know which group he was supposed to go with. Great. He was fucked. The steps and grumbling got closer. Two pairs split apart and went opposite ways. Losing track of where everyone was Wilbur stayed quiet and tried to keep track of everyone and the zombies slowly closing in.

Hand tightened on his sword prepared to fight, but would he be able to kill a family? A thing he wanted in this fucked up world. Sighing he walked down a tunnel and straight into a group of the zombies, cursing under his breath he took off running down the long tunnel as the zombies chased after him. Wilbur knew this was the worst thing he could've done, he should've payed attention to what Phil had said, but no his thoughts were on Y/N and making sure she was alive and survived.

The echoing footsteps and grumbling followed after Wilbur as he was cornered and the zombies approached, all twisting and turning in whichever way as they grumbled. He didn't know what to call the noises they were making. Fear rose in his stomach as his breath hitched. This was the end, this was all going to be the cause of his death. Holding his sword out towards the zombies his hand shook. He was nervous, scared. He couldn't do this. Wilbur let his guard down and he regretted it. A panicked scream left his lips as one of the zombies attached his teeth to his wrist, biting into flesh.

This wasn't going to end well.

Not in Wilbur's case that was.

A rock was thrown in the direction of another tunnel parting from the end of his. Thank god that the zombies had gotten distracted by it because they slowly moved away. They were focused on whatever or whoever had made the noise leaving Wilbur.

This wasn't normal zombie nature, at least that's what he thought. Had they just meant to scare him and the last zombie, the one that had bit him was angry for some reason? Wilbur couldn't wrap his head around it. His wrist was burning and he gripped it tightly hissing in pain.

He'd either become one of them or die.

But deep down Wilbur knew what his outcome was going to be.

He was going to die.

He'd make sure of it.

Anything was better then becoming one of the infected and living your life out as a zombie becoming addicted to eating flesh and causing chaos and turning those you loved into zombies as well.

Even...

Death.

Was better.
