Frost Spirit squawked as he was thunked upside the head by Swordmaster. He had gotten back to base before sunrise and had rushed Eclipse Scout to the medical ward where medics were ready to rush him to the back to hook him up with IVs and get him the proper help he needed.
Right now Frost Spirit was getting scolded for doing more than what was asked of him and almost getting himself killed. Honestly, he deserves it.
"Stupid bird! I don't care if they needed help, getting yourself almost killed was not the objective!" Swordmaster scolded, making Frost Spirit shrink. All Frost Spirit could do was take the harsh thrashing.
Void Reaver would be smug and tell Swordmaster that he told him so, but that was a death sentence in its own way, so the titan decided against such mockery to save his own skin. A lot of the titans didn't dare to speak up, even Raider sat on his hands to avoid anything.
"That Umbra titan could be sending an army right now for what you did!" Swordmaster roared. Then his head snapped to Sinister, who decided to butt into the conversation.
"I doubt prissy pants would care about one of her goons being attacked," Sinister spoke up, spinning his sledgehammer on its head. Swordmaster snarled at him and wagged his finger at him, "What makes you so sure? Remember, boy, I have many years of war under my belt compared to you!"
Sinister shrugged and lifted the hammer over his shoulder, "I used to be a tyrant too. Still sort of am! I lose goons every day! Besides, if they die that easily, then they weren't very useful! Nothing to waste my energy over."
Void Reaver was surprised. Sinister was always an idiot, everyone thought it, but the pumpkin titan had some good thinking on him. Void Reaver began to think, maybe he should cut him some slack more often.
Swordmaster seemed to listen to Sinister, but he wasn't going to admit it. "That hostage. Was it one of the ones Commander talked about?" Swordmaster turned and asked Frost Spirit.
The ice titan nodded, "Yes, but there was two of them. I was unable to retrieve the second one, but they were both in poor condition." Swordmaster cursed under his breath. This was so confusing, what was this titan wanting with these unique towers? Whatever it was, it wasn't good.
"Get cleaned and go rest. You are exhausted. You can report the rest of your findings to Commander later," a softer side of Swordmaster came out as he instructed Frost Spirit. Frost Spirit was more than happy to go do that, the battle having exhausted him.
The others dismissed themselves, their day just starting. The whole camp was up bright early with the early morning scare, so Commander found it best they start preparing for the upcoming war. That meant getting all the trucks filled with supplies, getting equipment ready, and finishing up strategies.
Swordmaster had a lot on his plate, but right now he needed to figure out why Umbra would kidnap these specific towers. Perhaps the head medic may help him?
As he was about to walk, a heavy hand landed on his shoulder. Void Reaver had stopped him, a worried look at his face. "There is a lot going on, especially for you. You are taking on too many responsibilities while being exhausted. You need to ease up," Void Reaver told him.
Swordmaster at first scoffed, but then eased up. He wasn't wrong, Swordmaster has burdened himself with many responsibilities. Perhaps he could pawn an important one off on Void Reaver?
"I admit, you are right. However, I need to know what is so special about these hostage towers to the Umbra," Swordmaster spoke, Void Reaver nodding in agreement. "However, I need you to go to the tower graveyard where the boy was buried. It is important, very important. The time is growing near..." Swordmaster whispered it to Void Reaver, not wanting anyone else to hear.
