HER UNCLE NEVER STAYED FOR VERY LONG. He usually never even stays for the annual first night dinner. But Aria didn't mind. As much as she loved Uncle Greg, Cousins just didn't belong to him or to any of the dads as much as it did to the kids and the moms. He said his goodbyes after the trio came back from their swim. He kissed Aria on the forehead, murmuring a quick "I love you, be good." before leaving the house.

Next thing you know, everyone was sitting at the dining table. The bouillabaisse filled the air with its strong scent and the steam from it wafted around the room.

Beforehand, Aria decided to wash up and not go to dinner sticky with sea water and in her revealing bathing suit.

She showered and threw on a pair of black track shorts and a blue, yellow, and pink tie-dyed sweater. Her braids laid gently on her shoulders, cascading down her back from being in a high ponytail all day.

"Steven, I swear to God if you look at your phone one more time, I'm putting it in the screen basket." Laurel threatened, her tone irritated. Aria wondered why he was on his phone so much, now. It wasn't like this last summer.

Susannah put a hand on Laurel to calm the fiery woman. "It's just that we love to see your beautiful faces. Can dinnertime be a screen-free zone? Like the olden days." Steven still had yet to oblige. Aria, rolling her eyes, kicked Steven from under the table. "Ow! What?" He said, glaring at her.

Before either of them even comprehended what was happening, Jeremiah, grinning, snatched Steven's phone and threw it across the room like a football. Fortunately, the phone landed safely. He threw his hands up in victory, whooping.

Steven rolled his eyes. "We get it. You have abs now." He said annoyed. It was Belly's turn to laugh. "You're just jealous Jere has a better body than you." Belly laughed, pointing a fork at Steven. Jeremiah snorted and Conrad almost smiled. Aria put a hand over her mouth, trying to cover her fit of laughter.

Steven looked offended. "Wrong. It's all about lean looks now. Otherwise, you can't wear tailored suits." He said smugly. Suddenly he looks like he just remembered something. "Oh! Wait, when are you leaving for training camp?" He asked Conrad.

Suddenly the air seemed thick. The tension was high. "Oh, uhm, he quit football." Jeremiah said uncomfortably. Now this was news to Aria and the Conklins.

"You quit?!" "Wait, why?" Aria and Steven said at the same time. Conrad didn't answer either question. Everyone suddenly looked uncomfortable. The atmosphere of the room changed so suddenly. "Are you serious, man? I'd kill to play college ball." Steven said in disbelief.
