never did make much sense
tottering on the tight-rope of sanity
one misplaced step and you plunge downward into limbo
and as you ruthlessly justify and persuade and convince yourself
a quiet, patient world lay just outside your window, awaiting
the birds in the sky know not of your toils, your entanglements
they shit on your car with no prejudice
the corner-store clerk who's head darts up
like a meerkat in the presence of danger
you're sucked out of your pitiful day-dream
as they hand you your change with a tainted expression
never did make much sense
a tired soul teasing you, running laps around your head
playfully provoking you but only because there's nothing else to do
don't worry i get it.
nothing changes until you decide to change that
luscious fruit just out of reach
attainable with effort you aren't assed putting in
dark blob eyes
playful smile
you can't fool me
iv'e seen the sea floor, it's spacious and tranquil
it's lonely
shit never did make much sense
