Snap. Finn’s plan wasn’t working. “Dude, this is dumb!” I mutter. “You got a better plan?” He’s been in a bad mood all day. It’s been 3 days since we first formed the plan, and we were now building a cabin as bait. Someone was going to wait inside and we would use Dad’s harpoon to wound the grear, and If that didn’t kill it, I would finish it off.
He scoffs, shifting, and begins to pad away. “Where are you going?!” He turns and looks at me. His golden eyes are cold. “Home. I need to calm the fuck down.” He dashes off. I sigh. “Why can’t we all get along…?”
I shift, and stalk off out of the forest. Why does Finn have to be such an ass…? I think to myself. I arrive quickly at the orange building. All I need are axes… perhaps a chainsaw if I have the money… I think out my plan as I shift back into human form. I make my way out of the bushes.
“Hey, loser!” A voice that I recognise, yet can’t recall who it belonged to can be heard from my left. I turn towards it. “What were you doing in the woods, spying~? He sneers. “Who would I spy on?” I ask simply. There’s nobody around. “Me, obviously!” He says as if it’s common sense.
I scoff, rolling my eyes. “Look… whatever your name is… the world doesn't revolve around you like you think.” I state bluntly, before attempting to continue to The Home Depot. I’m pulled back by my shirt collar. “You’re an ass, ain't ya?” He doesn't seem mad, yet amused. “Uh huh…” I mutter.
“My name’s Simon, what’s yours?” Simon. Why is that name so familiar? “Er, Sam… I need to get to The Home Depot, can I go?” Simon nods. “Sure, sure… but I feel like this aint the last time I'll run into you…” His voice was suddenly cold, instead of the stoner-like quality that it had beforehand.
It hit me as he walked away. That was the officer that had arrived to dispose of the body. He certainly looked younger right now, but there was no denying that It was him. He had the same green eyes, skin, and hair. The same freckles and the same birthmark around his eye.
Who was this person? I shook off the thought. All would be revealed in time. But right now, I needed to focus on getting the materials from the home depot. Walking inside the building, I quickly looked around.
Finn wanted the cabin to look natural, yet aged. Like it’s been there forever. His idea was to build a model with sticks, then cut some logs, allowing room for the cabin to be built, and materials.
This was dumb. Building a model with sticks. It would take too long, time we didn’t have. Time being wasted. It would've made sense to do it digitally, or more likely cut the wood and measure out the proportions of the cabin
I shake my head, checking my wallet. “Only a few hundred… gods, I need a job…” I mutter. I rush my way to the woodcutting aisle. Well, that’s what I call it… Nevermind. “Chainsaw…” I mutter as I grab it off of the shelf, surprised that it’s not locked up. “Axe… 2, 3, 4, 5…” I checked out.
“I’m building something, and I need to cut wood.” I tell the cashier, who shrugs. “That was easy…” I mutter once outside, stealing a trolley. I carry the weaponry back to our base camp. “Sam!” Luci notices me and smiles. “I haven’t seen you since this morning, gods, I've missed you…” He runs up and pulls me into a hug. I grin.
“Hey, lovely~” I hugged him back. “I missed you too, I just wanna…” I kiss him on the forehead dramatically, then all over his face. “Hey! Hey!” He giggles.
“You are so wholesome… ack! My heart!” Finn clutches his chest dramatically. “Oh, Finn! I got some woodcutting supplies…” I gesture to the axes and the one chainsaw while tending to my boyfriend at the same time. “Cool!” I ignore everyone but Luci. “Mwah!” I over exaggerated the kiss I gave him.
He smiles, and pulls me back into the kiss, this time more passionately as I groan in surprise. Chu. “Love you~” He smiles. “I love you too, Luci…” I rest my forehead on his.
“When you two stop being gay, we have work to do…” Reggie chuckled. I blushed, and Luci kissed me on the tip of my nose before going to help the group plan. “Wait, so what are we doing right now, exactly?” I walk up to the group, they’re surrounding blueprints.
“This is the shack.” Finn states. We nod. “The shack will go over there…” He points to a clearing behind me. “We will get wood from the trees surrounding us… only a few trees.” The plan was formulated. “Hopefully, the grear will be drawn in, looking for food. I’ll sit as bait.”
There were no objections to him sitting as bait. “Right, so in the meantime, what do we do?” Finn nodded. “Get to work.” Over the next few hours, we built the cabin quite quickly. “We need to make it look like it’s been lived in, the grear’s not dumb.”
“It’s night time, we need to lure it away somewhere so it won't stumble across the unfurnished cabin, then…”
“I have a better Idea… We set up obvious traps around it, so it’ll avoid it until it’s ready…” I start. “Once we remove the traps it’l think that we’d given up…”
“That’s so dumb, it might just work!” Jan said, though not sarcastically. “Ouch…” I mutter. “Well, I think it’s a good idea… It’ll definitely work…” Finn said reluctantly. He sighed. “All In favour of Sam’s plan, say ‘I’.”
“I”
It was settled. We were going to use my plan. Everyone agreed. We set up the traps quickly, and returned home for the night, planning on furnishing tomorrow. I hope this works…
