It’s been four days since we had furnished the house, disabled the traps, and since Finn had posted himself at it. We all kept on our toes, but I was starting to think that It knew what we were planning… It wasn’t fullproof, It was a dumb plan… but It was just dumb enough to work.
I was in hound form, pacing back and forth in my room, while Luci was out doing Abbi knows what. I whined. “I miss him…” I groaned. Since when did I become so reliant on Lucifer!? I was still my own person, I could go do something! But I couldn't, thinking about it... I needed to be close enough to Rodney Forest to be there once Fenrir signalled over the radio that the grear was in the area.
“Be on your guard.” He told us. “We don’t know when the grear is coming, we need to be alert at all times.” I sighed. “Man, fuck this, I’m bored…” I groaned out as I paced in circles to lay down. I want Luci… I thought to myself. This whole situation was fucked up.
The more I thought over it, the more fucked up it seemed, the more fucked up it was. Maybe the grear already killed Finn, and we’re waiting for nothing… I shook the thought out of my stupid dog brain. “No, something would've happened if that were the case.”
I tell myself. I whine out loud. Jan peeks into the room. “Stop moping so loudly, Lucifer will be back in a minute.” I blushed, Was it really that obvious?
“Sh-Shut up…” I mutter, tucking my tail ove my nose. I heard the door open, and perked up. “Is that him?!” My tail was wagging. Jan pricked his ears for a moment. “No, that’s Mylo.” I frowned, returning to my previous position.
Door, not him, sulking. That was what my brain was thinking, anyways. “You really are a dog, huh…” Jan muttered, the calico laughing. “Hush up…” He walked over to me, purring in amusement. “Don’t worry, I'm sure he’ll be here soon…”
He left soon after after seeing that he didn’t cheer me up. I heard the door open not long after, Jumping up to see Luci. Tail wagging, I pounced on him. “I missed you, where did you go?!” I was obviously happy to see him.
“Puppy…” He muttered into my neck fur. I shifted back into my human form, Wrapping my arms around him. “Happy to see me?” He chuckled out. I nodded. “You don’t say…” I was feeling restless. When would Finn’s signal be? Krrish. “Now.” Finn’s voice sounded over the radio. “Damn my ability to will things into existence…” I mutter, shifting and jumping out of the window. Running into the forest, Luci following not far behind, I made it to the cabin fairly quickly. The grass underneath my hot paws turn to ash as I subconsciously raise my body heat due to what Finn told me. “They hate the heat” I recall him saying as my fur began smoking.
I stalk silently. “In position.” I mutter into the radio collar that Finn had gotten. One for me, him, and a smaller one for Luci. They were infused with magic, and would shift into regular radios on our belts as we shifted into human form. “Right… It’s in the house…” Finn muttered back.
I stalk slowly, cooling my paws so I don’t start a fire, redirecting the extra heat to my back. My paws were ice cold. I peer in through the window. Right there… I think as I creep around the wooden walls. If I'm careful about this, it should be a quick kill.
I shift, walking on my hands and feet still. I was going to pounce, and shift in the process. Simple plan. It would work, I was confident in that. I ready myself to jump on the grear. Now. I jump into the evening wood air, shifting as I pin it to the ground.
It struggles out of my grasp, but not before I managed to claw part of its neck fur out. First blood. I roll over, and allow it to escape. “YOU’RE SURROUNDED!” I call, now on my feet. “THERE’S NO ESCAPE, GREAR!”
“shit!”
That was the first time I'd heard it speak. I froze up. The voice was like a digitally altered male human voice. The voice sounded about 12 years old. It emitted static noises as It ran around the clearing, clearly panicked.
“What the…?” I stood my ground as It circled back to me. “no, no…!” It sounds stressed. “Just give up! You’ve killed enough humans!” I shout. “I’m not too keen on starving, thanks!...” Its modulated voice shouted back as It paused. “Starving? You don’t have to starve…” I felt sympathetic.
“If I don’t kill humans, they will starve me!” It began laughing bitterly. “They? Who’s they?!” I shouted back. It shakes its head. “I’ve said too much!” It cackles. Finn pounces on it from behind suddenly. “GOTCHA!” The grear shakes him off. He gets thrown off into the woods, screaming. “FINN!”
I shout. “I won’t stop until all of you are dead!” It laughs maniacally. “Fuck…” I mutter. Whoever sent the grear out here was out for blood. Jan is sneaking around. Luci is MIA. Luci! I think worriedly. What if they already got to him?- I’m fine, sweets… His voice reassured me.
I watched Jan get thrown off into the forest caterwauling. “SHIT!” it was just down to me, Luci, and Grey. Grey then pounced out from the bushes. I gasped in surprise. His form was a white tiger. That’s unexpected… I think to myself as I shake myself out of my trance.
Just as I do, Grey is launched in the air. “MOTHER FUCKER-” He shouts before landing miles out. It was just me and Lucifer now. Shit…
