Kiss me before I go

"God you're being annoying! What is up with lately, honestly!?" Dazai sneered. Chuuya burst into laughter. Dazai made up his mind that something was up, his thoughts being confirmed when Chuuya looked up to meet Dazai's eyes. Dazai gasped seeing Chuuya's eye color.

One glowing red, one his usual sea blue, sapphire, eyes. The brunets facial expression molded into a worried one as he slowly walked to Chuuya."Hey, Chuu, what's up?" Dazai caught Chuuya once he fell into his arms, gasping for air. "Hey, Chuuya? Chibi? Hat wrack?" Dazai's eyes filled to the brim with water, threatening to cry. Chuuya hummed, leaning into Dazai's touch before loosing consciousness.

The next morning Chuuya woke up with a rag on his forehead, laying on his and Dazai's shared bed. Noticing Chuuya finally awake, the taller rushed to Chuuya's side noticing that Chuuya's eyes were still heterochromatic (multicolored). "Chuu, are you there? I was worried sick, god." Dazai kissed Chuuya's forehead gingerly, not wanting to ever let him go.

"Yeah, yeah I'm here..what..happened?" Chuuya asked. "You fainted yesterday. And now one of your eyes is a weird, creepy red," Dazai explained. Chuuya's eyes widened at this as he sat up fastly. "Chuuya, you should not get up so early!" Dazai shouted. However, Chuuya wasn't listening. Instead, looking into the mirror in horror. "A-ane- San. I need to call her."

Chuuya reached in his pocket, noticing it wasn't there, but in Dazai's hands. "Dazai, give-" "Chuuya Nakahara, tell me what's wrong." Chuuya whined, hating when Dazai used his angry mom voice. He always ended up listening to it. "...Arahambaki is trying to kill me," Chuuya deadpanned.

Dazai blinked a few times before it actually registered to him. Suddenly, his face contorted with worry. "Oh. How many..how many days do you have left?" Dazai didn't want to ask this. He knew he wouldn't like the answer.

"How ever many days until my other eye turns completely red." Dazai sniffed and rested his forehead on Chuuya's. "Is there any ways I could change it?" "Nope. If Arahamaki is able to change my appearance without me using corruption, there is no doubt he'd be able to kill me. It's inevitable, Dazai."

...

Dazai spent his every minute with Chuuya, as did Chuuya with Dazai. They had even went as far as to take leave from their jobs, even though, for Chuuya, he wouldn't be returning anyways. They fulfilled Chuuya's last wishes before he died, each day his sapphire eye growing more and more crimson.

"Dazai, come sit next to me," Chuuya said, motioning to the garbage can next to him. "I told you that you can go anywhere for your last day, and you chose a sketchy alley. Even worse, you expect me to sit on a trash can? You're odd sometimes, hatwrack." Despite his complaints, Dazai obediently obeyed.

He had to. "You really don't remember this place?" Chuuya asked, looking around. "No way." Dazai did remember this place. He remembered it like the back of his hands. He remembered seeing Chuuya's dashing eyes and ginger hair in person for the first time. How could he forget? He remembered any moment with Chuuya. Of course, he couldn't admit it though.

"It was the first time we met. You probably saw tons of pictures of me prior to meeting me though. Didn't you?" Chuuya chuckled. This whole scene seemed unlike Chuuya. He wasn't the type to remanence on the last. Maybe because he didn't like it.

Dazai didn't respond. Only twiddling his thumbs while tears filled his eyes. "You can cry now, Dazai. You're not the Demon Prodigy anymore that you used to be. Not like how you were the last time we were here." Dazai sniffed at this, allowing hot tears to spill into his lap. "I totally destroyed you back then. When I stepped on you and kicked your head. You probably liked that didn't you? You told me "I don't like pain" only to hide your obvious pain fetish."

Chuuya was starting to drop tears of his own. "We were so dumb, you know. So immature. You made me feel human," Chuuya mumbled, still rambling on and on. Noticeable red seeped into his eye. "I guess I could only be a lab rat, after all. No matter how human I felt with you."

"Oh, Chuuya. Save the pass tense sappy talk, will you?" Dazai spoke, his voice shaky. "I couldn't imagine if you left me, Dazai. I'm sorry I'm leaving you."

Dazai's tears got heavier. "I said save it." More red fought with the blue, ultimately winning, only leaving one speck left. "Could you do one more thing for me before I go, love?" Chuuya asked, his tone bittersweet. Dazai only gave Chuuya a pleading look in return. As if to say, "don't do this".

"Kiss me before I go."

Dazai chuckled painfully, tears gliding down his cheeks. The two leaned forward, smiling sadly. Their lips met for the last time. It hurt to know this was the last time, after so many kisses they've shared over years.

Chuuya's body suddenly went limp in Dazai's touch.
