Chapter 1

<Lyla> POV

Beep Beep Beep Beep..... Beep Beep Beep Be-

I reached over, grabbed my phone, and clicked the DISMISS button for my alarm. Its 3:51 a.m. on Thursday June 18th. I slip my fuzzy purple slippers on and head downstairs to get a drink. Once Im downstairs I head into my family's kitchen and walk over to the refrigerator right against the stove. I open the refrigerator door and grab the orange juice sitting on the top shelf and set it on the counter to poor myself a cup. I went to get a cup from the shelf when I heard tiny foot steps coming down the stairs. My brother.

"Eli what are you doing out of bed?" I started walking towards him when I noticed he was sniffling and looked really pale. "Eli do you not feel good?" I said.

"mm mm" He mumbled.

"Come here let sissy help" I said before grabbing him and setting him on top of the counter. I walked over to the orange juice , grabbed it, and came back to pour him a glass as well as myself. I walked to the shelf above the sink and grabbed a box that said Cold Relief. I popped a pill out and walked back to set it right by his orange juice. "Here take this and then drink okay?" I said pointing at his drink and pill.

"mhm" He popped it in his mouth then took a drink of his juice.

I knew he was tired so I grabbed him and laid him on the couch to sleep. Once I put a blanket over him I went back upstairs to my room with my orange juice. When I got to my room I put on some music and a low level so my mom wouldn't hear.

"Show me how to lie! Your getting better all the time!" I was singing to my favorite song Your Gonna Go Far Kid by Offspring. I danced to my closet and grabbed a My Chemical Romance t-shirt, a pair of capris, and some flip flops. I went to my bathroom and changed. I grabbed my brush and started to comb my short black hair that sat directly on my shoulders then I grabbed some makeup my best friend, and only friend, got me for my 14th birthday this year. I threw on some foundation and mascara then slid on my shoes.

"We could be imortals I-I-imortals just not the-" I could hear a new song on now. I went to get my phone to check the time, its 4:15 now. I need to be going. I turned my music off and walked downstairs. When I got down the stairs I saw my little brother asleep on the couch, a good thing. I left a note saying Eli took a cold pill and to watch him. When I got finished I walked to the front door and grabbed my coat, which had my wallet in it, off the rack by the door.

"I love you Eli see you tonight" I whispered before walking out the door and closing it.

Its dark out but I still have to find my bike. I stumbled a little trying to make things out but I finally found my black and green bike sitting against the fence leading out to the sidewalk. I started peddling and turned to go down the sidewalk. A few minutes have passed while watching scary houses pass by me as I ride along when I see something unusual. Its a elderly man looking for something in his yard.

"Excuse me sir do you need any help?" I said politely.

"Oh yesh Ive sheemed to have losht my glashes out here shomewhere." He said.

I tried to look on top of things like the trash can, fence, and even a really old truck parked to the side but couldn't seem to find them. I stepped back and felt something pointy under my foot so I turn and grab it and of course its his glasses.

"Here sir" I give him his glasses.

"Oh thank you" he said walking back inside.

I started to peddle off again.

I pull up to Pretty Pampered Pets pet shop. I walk to the door, get my key out, and turn it into the key hole, click. I walk in and hear birds chirping, cats meowing, and the bunnies rustling around.
