<Lyla> POV

I just started to wake up. I look to my left out the window and its still dark out. My phone is in my lap, I look at the screen which says 2:50.

"Oh baby your awake" My mom said.

"What are you doing up?" I asked.

"Making sure your okay" My mom said.

"Get some sleep its okay mom I'm fine" I said.

My mom smiled and patted my hand before sitting down in a chair near the door. I felt something poke me.

"Sissy" Eli said.

"You need to sleep too" I said poking his nose.

Eli yawned and tried to get comfortable.

"Come here" I said.

I put Eli in my arms with his feet on my legs.

"Your gonna be to big for this pretty soon" I said.

I moved him back and forth a little to help him fall asleep. When I saw he was asleep I gave a kiss on head and laid his head on my chest.

My phone went off. It was a message from Jeffrey.

J=Jeffrey   L=Lyla

J= Are you okay?

L= I cant sleep... My chest hurts.... And I cant stop coughing .... I feel like im in wonderland!

J= Oh Im sorry

L= Sorry Im a little grumpy..

J= I wish I was there... I miss you so much

L= I miss you too.. What if I really have lung cancer?

J= I will cry and scream to the skies "WHY LYLA!?"

L= Your the best

J= Thanks... Im going to sleep a bit. Text me if you get any news or call me.

L=Okay bye bye

I decided to go back to sleep for a bit so I could dream about Jeffrey. I fell asleep with the image of my first kiss with Jeffrey in my mind.

I just woke up when the doctor walks in. Eli is on the floor playing with toy trucks that Casey got from my home earlier this morning. My mom is reading a magazine with Casey in the corner chairs.

"Excuse me" The doctor said.

"Oh sorry" My mom said.

My mom stood up and straightened her shirt out then extended her hand. They shook hands before the doctor pulled a chair up in front of my bed and sitting. My mom sat down, Casey put the magazine down, and Eli came to sit with me. I moved over and let him sit by me with my arm around him.

"Sissy you will be good" Eli whispered in my ear.

"Thank you bubba" I whispered back.

"We would like to keep Lyla in for a Biopsy just to determine if she may have either lung cancer or if she had breast cancer that spread to the lungs, if by chance Lyla was to have lung cancer she would most likely have Adenocarcinoma, This is the most common form of lung cancer in nonsmokers. It affects peripheral lung tissue. A subtype, bronchioloalveolar carcinoma, is the type most commonly found in women who never smoke." The doctor said.

"Okay okay" My mom said.

"We would like to get a sample of Lyla's mucus" The doctor said.

"Okay" My mom said.

"So if we can we would like to swab her throat" The doctor said.

"Okay Lyla" My mom said.

I nodded but I was about in tears because I knew this was going to make me gag. I saw the doctor coming to Eli's side of the bed.

"Come here Eli" I said.

I picked Eli up and put him over the other side of the bed.

"Here sissy its okay" Eli said.

Eli grabbed my hand and I nodded. I opened my mouth and the doctor started to put the swab down my throat and I started to gag. He swabbed around my throat then took it out. I immediately coughed.

"Good job sissy" Eli said.
