"Pose with your brother won't you be a good
                                        sister?"

I'm using she/her pronouns for Angel and have given them a name (Isabelle) as it's easier for me to remember and write. I hope this doesn't bother anyone! These are also all hc's I have and have not been confirmed!

Angel's POV (Past)
"Blow out your candles Bells!" laughed my dad. God, I hate my birthday. I laughed too and blew out my candles, smiling for the tons of phones pointed at me. "Hooray!" Everyone cheered. I stared at the cake in front of me with a big '11' candle in the middle and swallowed nervously. My eyes darted over to my younger brother who was eating the last few slices of pizza like his life depended on it and I smiled. He looked so happy, so unfazed by what was going on, I wanted it to stay that way, forever. But I knew it wouldn't. I knew one day Guy would grow up and realise everything wrong with our 'family', but he was still young and full of imagination and I wanted to keep him safe from reality for just a little while longer. "Cmon let's get a photo with your brother for your big day!" said my mom with her biggest smile. But behind it I could see how she would grit her teeth and narrow her eyes. "Come on Guy! Let's get a photo" I said trying to sound cheery. I took his hand in mine and we stood together, strained smiles and tense bodies as the cameras clicked and people clapped like we were royalty or something. For fuck's sake it was my 11th birthday party not a jubilee. As I look back on it now, I realise just how hard my parents tried to make it look like they were the best, which is a whole load of lies.

"Thank you so much for coming" our front door slammed and my dad sighed frustratedly. "Why the hell did you invite so many people? We told you to invite 2 of your friends not 10" he said, his mood changing like someone flipped a switch. "Sorry" I said quietly. "That was a complete waste of money but, of course, you're just a stupid naive child who thinks money grows on trees! Well it doesn't" he spat, as he pointed an angry finger at me. "I'm not stupid" I narrowed my eyes at him. "What was that?"  his face was turning red and I could see the vein in his temple begin to throb. "I'm not stupid" I repeated more confidently. "Don't you DARE talk back to me!" yelled my dad before slamming his hand against the wall causing me to flinch. "Sorry, sorry" I said quickly, turning on my heel to retreat to my room before I was met with my angry mother who was holding my brothers hand tightly as his eyes glittered with tears. "The both of you are ridiculous you know that?" she nodded to me and Guy, "And the NERVE" she yanked my hand too "To talk back to your father like that is DISGUSTING" she twisted my arm and I yelped. "Get to your room you ungrateful wastes of space" I won't repeat what else my parents said, but it wasn't words of love I'll tell you that much. I took Guy's hand and led him to my room before shutting the door quietly. "Hey, shh it's okay" I tried my best to console him. I wiped his tears and told him funny stories to make him laugh and thankfully it worked until he fell asleep from exhaustion. I didn't sleep that night, not properly. I heard my parents yell at eachother, I heard the ocassional slam on my bedroom door and and the names I was called.
I wanted so badly to leave, but I was 11, Guy was 6, we were kids with nothing and no one to help us. But I knew someday we'd get out and I'd look after him like the best big sister ever...
