I exhaled deeply and gently strode forward, hoping I could escape because I was undoubtedly feeling weighty. I closed my eyes tight and took another step. SNAP! Yeah, that's what always happens. Any random stick comes between your feet.
The sobbing stopped. My heart skipped a beat as sweat dripped from my palms. I clutched my dagger tighter.
"Just go away." A squeaky voice echoed. It was unlike mine.
More like a parrot squawking. It certainly didn't sound like a Omnibus. But whatever it was, I had to kill it. Okay, I am brave. I knew what to do. Walk up to that monster and murder it. Easy-peasy. I sprinted outside and darted towards it. My eyes were closed. I don't know if I had lost my thinking stuff or I was bonkers.
The voice screeched again. I opened eyes slowly but they soon widened. It wasn't an Omnibus. It was something else. Whenever my thinking stuff told me to murder it, my heart pulled me away.
"Yeah?" It raised its hands."Stop fooling around! Humans are untruthful."
I gulped. I didn't even understand what it wanted to say. The dagger in my hand became slippery. If it hadn't talked to my face like that, it had been on the floor with a knife on its chest. I call it the Ethan Demon Attack.
"Sorry, but who are you?" I knitted my eyebrows in confusion.
"Just kill me already! I was born to die."
I observed it closely, it had dark skin. Scaly dark skin. The creature was absurdly similar to an Omnibus. Those bright green eyes that could almost blind you and those long sharp nails that could rip you apart to pieces. But the hazel curly brown hairs and clothes made of animal skin gave me second thoughts. "Are you an Omnibus?"
"Is Omnibus bad? I mean the worst?"
I nodded, I was unsure of what it would do. And my thinking stuff was right. It broke into a flood of tears. My heart pounded on my bones with a hammer.
"Stop messing! You know everything don't you?"
My knees were wobbly and my hands began to quaver. I dropped my dagger as it landed on the floor and made a loud sound. I shut my eyes as tight as I could. Fear never conquered me like this. The thing gazed at my dagger and then turned towards my face. It seemed to stare at me as if I jumped off the highest floor of the building.
"You are not going to kill me?" It questioned, voice quivering. I shook my head in approval.
"Why are you doing this?"
I couldn't answer its question. I couldn't even figure out what it was or what I could say. All that came to me was to murder the thing and pretend that nothing ever happened; I was the same old Ethan who was living a sad life.
"Whoever you are, Thank you. But! I am not an ally." It expanded its hand.
I moved a bit away. It was getting awkward, I was about to shake hands with... half-Omnibus creature like thingy who spoke words that I didn't understand.
"What are humans?" I asked. "Why are you saying weird words? Who are you?"
"That's one lame joke. Where do you live?"
"Everywhere. What is joke?"
The thing became annoyed by its expression. "Shut up and answer me! I need a home." Its eyes watered again as if it would start crying if I asked another query. I couldn't see anyone like that, it tears my heart apart. I kept quiet and started to walk away, it's better to ignore.
"You are one of them! You are aren't you?"
It yelled out loud. My eyes started to widen. This creature or whatever it looked like was going crazy. I made hushing gesture by putting a finger on my lips but that thing wouldn't stop. I gritted my teeth and cupped my cheeks tightly.
"Leave me alone! I hate boys! And I hate you too! Do not hesitate to back off!"
The voice echoed through the building, shattering some glass windows. Suddenly, all I could here was the rapid inhaling and exhaling of the creature next to me. I knew it regretted screaming now. What it had done, was extremely stupid.
"Oh no." I muttered. "We have to run. Where should we go?"
I turned around to face it but it was already gone, the wind swished on its place as if it had turned into an apparition.
I was interrupted when I heard an ear-splitting growl and roars from the hallway next to me. My body froze. Panic held me tighter, refusing to let go. I took a deep breath and fought the urge to stay; I sprinted where the thing had gone. My hand traveled towards my tool belt and I clutched the nearest thing I could find. A crowbar. How cool is that?
I mentally slapped myself for running away and not picking something useful. Eyes do not focus on handy things around you especially while you're sprinting away from death. I blinked harder, my mind searching for something to use. I quickly gave a glance back, nothing for now. I paused to take a breath. Suddenly I could feel something wanted to assist me until my eyes met the gaze of the rope in front of me.
