Kaveh suddenly had a curious thought, it interested him. As Alhaitham sat across from him as they were eating breakfast, he decided to say his thought aloud, "hey Alhaitham," he spoke, slowly regretting even speaking up.
"What," Alhaitham stared back, blankly. It terrified Kaveh to his core.
"Well I was wondering... if you'd like to go out to brunch someday soon... any day really. I don't mind rescheduling things-"
"There is no need to reschedule anything, as I'm booked all week," Alhaitham took his eyes off the blonde, instead opting to read the book he had on the table.
"Wh- impossible!" Kaveh shook his head in anger, "that's literally impossible! I know for a fact that you're not "booked" on weekends."
"I'm booked right now," Alhaitham paid no mind to the discussion at hand.
"No you're no- wait is this a joke!?"
Alhaitham covered the slight smile on his face with his hand, taking his eyes off his book for a mere second before looking back at it, "maybe it was. But what does that matter to you."
"If I wanted to hear a bad joke I'd just invite Cyno over for the night..." He put a hand on his forehead.
Alhaitham pushed on his headphones' noise canceling feature, letting Kaveh know that he truly wasn't listening, or at least didn't care to.
Kaveh rolled his eyes, "great! Just what I needed!" He fummed, clearly annoyed by Alhaitham's antics, "I asked you one! One question! And you can't answer me without being rude and snarky..." He crossed his arms, planting his head on the table.
Alhaitham looked over to see Kaveh in a very bad, not at all good mood. He took a deep breath, "Kaveh..."
He looked up from the table, "what do you want this time!? To ridicule me some more!?"
"Why do you want to go out to brunch when we're sitting and eating together right now?" He asked, a genuine question, even Kaveh could see that.
Kaveh shook his head, "it's different, the atmosphere... the food even. All you're eating is a dry piece of toast with butter, don't you think we could order something better at a cafe?"
"But I like my toast."
Kaveh rolled his eyes, "plus, I'd be nice for you to get out every now and then- op!" He poked the other's nose, "Work doesn't count. Grocery shopping doesn't either."
"...whatever."
"This is why I hate arguing with you... no matter what I say you always have something to say."
Alhaitham may or may also be annoyed that his simple question turned into an argument... but if he said it's technically Kaveh's fault he'd get shredded to pieces, "I don't get the difference between eating here versus somewhere else besides the noise of others. Plus, I rather like just the two of us eating like this."
Kaveh's heart dropped and then got pulled back up by Alhaitham basically saying he enjoyed his company. Who is this man and why is he pretending to be Alhaitham!? "Alhaitham I... I was asking you on a date," he stated bluntly.
"Oh..." Alhaitham definitely felt very stupid at this moment. Didn't calculate this to happen, huh.
Kaveh shook his head, "it's fine. We can just enjoy eating here..."
"Kaveh-"
"No, I get it! It's fine!" He unintentionally slammed the table with his fists, then instantly regretting it and putting everything back where it was, "sorry-"
