bella hated the cullens, officially. first, they come back while she's celebrating her birthday and ruin the mood. second, edward tries to demand she leave jacob for him. third, and what she considered the most outrageous, was the blatant racism towards the pack.

they were not 'mutts' nor were they 'freaks'. carlise was able to get his old job back, and re-enrolled his physically high school aged kids in forks high. she was now so glad to be graduated, but felt sorry for the batch of students stuck with the clan of vampires now.

she talked with the pack, safely curled up in jacob's side. "i feel like i need the closure. i want one last goodbye." she explained nervously, watching emotions shift behind sam's eyes. "okay. but please leave the rabbit running, okay? jacob will meet you on the other side of the border." paul scoffed, but was smart enough to not say anything.

"i don't get it bella, he left. what kind of closure do you need? you have jacob!" jared complained, to which jacob glared and said "closure is closure. if that what she needs, it's what she needs. now, when you wanna do this honey?" bella shrugged noncommittally. "i don't know. maybe tomorrow." her jacob nodded and pressed a kiss against her jaw. "okay honey. that works. we'll come here after, okay?" "perfect." she grinned.

bella pulled into the cullens driveway and stared at her ex-boyfriend. he was on the porch and watched her with barley hidden excitement. "we need to talk." she said, leaning in the hood of the car. "come inside then." he ordered, opening the door.

"no, i don't want to." she snarked, smirking when he finally walked over to stand infront of her. "yes, bella. what is it?" he asked her. "this is sort of a last goodbye. i'm never taking you back, and you deserve to know that. not live in denial." she shrugged, watching his face contort into something between fury and heartbreak.

he shook his head "no bella, i need you." bella folded her eyes and said "i've moved on. and so should you." he shook his head again. "that mongrel?! what does he have that i don't?" she laughed without emotion and said "everything. he's warm and passionate and loving."

in a moment edward just collapsed to the ground. "please..please don't shut me out completely. i need you bella, i regret hurting you everyday. i still love you." he tried, feeling the venom pool in his eyes. "i can't edward. i have to think about me now. and that means moving on." edward nodded, standing up and shuffling back towards his house. settling back into the car and driving by towards the border.

feeling a sense of freedom, the life she lived with edward was done—the door was closed. and now she could open the door to live her life with jacob. she smiled widely when she saw him standing on the edge of the woods.

"hey, how'd it go?" he asked, pulling her closer hoping to get the sweet scent of cullen off of her. "good, he didn't want to believe i'd moved for a minute but he seemed to accept it, just upset about it." jacob didn't say so, but he thought the vampire deserved to get hurt. especially after hurting his bella.

"come on, emily's making soup for lunch. i think she said she was making pumpkin. she wants you on sandwich duty." bella giggled loudly and wandered over to the passenger seat. "how come she buys much brioche bread and brie every time?" "she says it makes the best sandwiches."
