"So, how was school?" Anthony kissed my forehead as he went to sit on the other side of the dinner table.
We always ate dinner together, give or take a few times when he had to work overtime or ate with Stephanie. I would usually cook us dinner, and he would warn me ahead of time if he couldn't make it. Once or twice a week, we'd just get takeout.
I smiled, "In all honesty, it was fun."
My brother widened his eyes, searching my face to see if I was lying or not. "Whoa, who are you and what have you done with my sister?"
I gave him a playful glare.
His face softened and he grinned. "Well, it's been a while since you last said you had a good day. What was so different about today?"
Looking back at the day's events, I didn't know where to begin. My basic voice? The food fight? Missing seventh period?.. Or making new friends?
Before I left school earlier, I promised myself to give them a shot. If they were willing to stick to a messed up person like me, then I should be willing to do the same with them. But alas, they didn't know I was unstable. Yet.
If things went well, then I assumed I would eventually let them know about my past. I didn't know when this was going to be. Maybe it wouldn't even happen? Well, let's see what the future brings us.
I started by telling Anthony about my classes, since I didn't have a chance to tell him yesterday. Then, I went into full detail about the people I met and the activities we were involved in.
By the end of my story, he was smiling like a fool. "So, does this indicate a new beginning for you?" Pft, he wasn't even mad I got in a food fight. He was so chill.
I thought about it for a second. I didn't tell him my whole theory about the hair tie. How it broke and how I felt. Nonetheless, I believed I could start anew with the people who have just entered my life. I obviously couldn't trust them, but I wasn't saying that I wouldn't eventually put my faith in them.
At first, however, I wouldn't allow myself to rely on them, but hopefully in the future, they would be the closest thing I have to family besides my brother.
I just couldn't make the same decisions I made before I came here. I was careless and broken, more broken than I was now. My choices in friends was also a big mistake. I learned from my mistakes, and I made sure I wouldn't make them again.
"Yeah, yeah it does."
I woke up from a peaceful sleep and stretched out my stiff muscles. Damn, I hadn't slept that well in ages. Maybe it was a good sign.
Today was Saturday, meaning no school! Since I finished all of my homework last night after dinner, I had the whole weekend to do whatever I wanted. This usually just consisted of reading and watching some of my favorite youtubers.
I got out of bed and brushed my hair. It was a bit knotted and wavy, because it was wet when I went to sleep last night. I didn't feel like using a blow dryer to dry it though; I just didn't like using any form of heat products on my hair. The occasional hair products like hair spray were fine though.
I stayed in my pajamas, which were just a white baggy tee and blue athletic shorts. So really, they weren't actually pajamas, but just sleeping clothes.
I rushed out of my room and into the kitchen. It was ten o'clock, and I was extremely hungry. Approaching the fridge, I saw a note from Tony.
Went out to breakfast with Stephanie. Won't be home until later. Love you.
I smiled, knowing how much his girlfriend meant to him. She helped him up when he was down, and since then, they were practically inseparable. It took him a while to finally ask her out on a date, though. I rolled my eyes, recalling how nervous he was before leaving for their first date. I literally had to push him out of the door.
