The fact that my ex-boyfriend from Maryland was standing in front of me, who was currently inhabited in New York, was pretty damn shocking. I mean, I knew he was coming to New York City, since Amelia posted of their travels yesterday. Amelia was an old friend, I guess you could say. I wonder why they were here, and I was just about to voice my thoughts.
"W-What are you guys doing here?" I asked, noting that familiar faces were standing right behind Terence, also adorning surprised expressions.
Someone popped up next to Terence, and it was another old friend, Sydney. "Drew? Omg, is that really you?" I nodded, not entirely trusting my voice right now. "It's so great to see you again!" She reached over and pulled me into a tight embrace. I hesitantly hugged her back, staring at the others.
When she released me, a face I didn't quite like registered in my line of vision. "Sup, buttercup?" Dennis asked, with an equally as annoying girl attached to his arm. I scrunched my nose up at the couple, showing my disgust. They were still together, much to my surprise, bearing in mind that they did have a lot of relationship issues. They were one of those on-and-off couples, which I completely dismissed as a friends-with-benefits kind of relationship when it came to this duo. I heard stories about these two, and let me tell you, they were not pleasant to listen to. I knew they were true also, because Dennis went off telling the whole school about it, with Amanda confirming that all of it was true. So, I think you can tell why I was revolted whenever I was around them. Plus, they weren't at all nice to me back in my old school.
"Hey guys.. It's nice to, uh, see you," I hesitantly said.
"Oh," Terence spoke up, "to answer your question, we're here on a field trip for a school club. Our supervisor is supposed to be with us, but she just let us walk around this mall for a bit before we head back to the hotel."
"I thought you guys were supposed to be in the city," I said rather quietly.
"Yeah, but we heard this is a great place to shop, so we decided to come here after being in the city. It's not that far from here, surprisingly. We just need to ride a few buses."
"Oh..." Before I could say anything else, Aidan saved me from having to talk to him any further.
"Anyway, we have to go, don't we Drew?" he asked, giving me a worried look. I nodded my head, wanting to get out of here as quickly as possible before having a breakdown.
"Who's he?" Terence asked before we had the chance to leave.
"Oh, um, he's a friend," I answered.
"Her best friend," Aidan corrected before pulling me away from the crowd. I gave everyone a quick wave, and then hurriedly walked in pace with him. We headed towards the closest exit, not saying a word to each other. I was kind of grateful for the silence, because I needed to think about that sudden encounter. To my dismay, no tears were spilling, but a bunch of thoughts were plaguing my mind.
I didn't have the best history with any of them, but I wasn't going to act rude to them, like I was to Aidan. Besides, they were being tolerable, so I had to be respectful.
But seriously, what were the chances that I just had to run into them? It had to be slim. Well, I hoped that was the last time I had to see any of their faces.
"So, are you ready to tell me?" Aidan said when we reached my car. He told me that he'd drive, since I wasn't in the right state of mind to be controlling a car with a passenger in it.
"Is that your question?" I asked, remembering he had said a fact earlier on.
He nodded, "I guess."
