TRACY CHAPMAN MAKES HISTORY

The revived and sustained run of success for bonafide legends reached a new apex just a few days ago.

Tracy Chapman, that most humble, effortless poet behind the all-time classic odyssey FAST CAR, the yearning melody of BABY CAN I HOLD YOU?, the surrender and sustenance present in GIVE ME ONE REASON and the topical and absolutely urgent TALKIN' ABOUT A REVOLUTION, has made her talents hum and reach a whole new spectrum.

Luke Combs, a popular country star, covered the iconic song this year and took it to the top of the charts once again. Ms. Chapman found her day in the sun as she won the coveted Song of the Year at CMA( Country Music Association) Awards, a songwriting feat that has made history in the annals of a whitewashed ceremony in all its years as an institution.

Ms. Chapman has always remained steadfast in her sense of respect for music and her standing as a storyteller has received credits from her lucidity. In a year where legendary artists in the form of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton have made their legacies count along with exciting new releases, Ms. Chapman's artistry endures and triumphs as one that defeats racial divides especially in the context of the country establishment.

It is also the time to revisit her live performances such as of STAND BY ME on David Letterman in 2015, of BABY CAN I HOLD YOU? with none other than Luciano Pavarotti, of her singing TALKING ABOUT A REVOLUTION at Wembley and joining forces with Eric Clapton for one of her definitive hits GIVE ME ONE REASON, a song she shares with captive audiences at the Grammy Awards ceremony in the mid 1990s.
