"Take me to the ocean, I love it there."
Kaito heeded to Haruki's request, carrying the man easily in his arms.
How could such a tragedy occurred ? Why didn't the soldier stab Kaito instead. Why did he defend Kaito?
His miserable life was quickly coming to and end. When the arrived on the shore, Kaito set him down gently. He shivered a little from the cold, forcing Kaito to give him his coat. He looked tired and deathly pale. The sounds at the beach were hardly audible to his seemingly deaf ears.
Despite that, he snuggled in Kaito's embrace, enjoying the last moments of his life.
"I defended you so much, maybe I thought that if I enabled someone to live, my memory would be carried on. You found me near the shore, looking at my reflection. Honestly, I had faded from the world, and I needed to end it. Nobody would notice when I was gone. Since you invaded my life, I wanted to live for your sake. For the sake of someone remembering me."
"I will."
Those were the last words that Mado Haruki had heard before drifting off to a never ending sleep.
