As I was solving my problem,I felt a nudge on my shoulder."Hey, do you have a pen?"Don't tell me you didn't bring one""Why would I be asking for one then?"I sighed and leaned over to my bag,but as I took a pen Chase said"You got that one wrong. "I nearly hit my head on the table."What?"I said as I gave the pen to him."I said you got that one wrong.You should multiply then divide,"he replied.
Impossible.I'd just done the same equation a few minutes earlier.I tried again though,to find out that he was right.I gave him a 'so what?'look and his face split into a huge grin"just helping,sweetheart""You need to stop calling me that."I said,annoyed Although it was kind of nice."And you need to practice your mathematics, young lady"he said with a grin,one that I would love to rip off."Oh you did not-"I grabbed his paper before he could say anything and started going through his answers"The 3rd one,WRONG,a middle school kid could solve that one,10th,same,and you might wanna try something else for the 23rd equation"I finished as I literally slammed the paper on his desk.I got what I wanted.He was no longer smiling,but he wasn't mad either.He was just looking at me like I was some weird creature.Got him.Boy that felt good.
Soon,detention was over.I got out quickly and started walking home.I unlocked my phone and opened spotify.I kept scrolling until I found the song I was looking for;can't catch me now by Olivia Rodrigo.I'd just read the ballad of songbirds and snakes and I was so excited for the movie.I sang along."Nice voice"I turned around and found two guys smiling at me.Then I noticed that beside us,there was no one in the streets.Fuck.The other guy spoke up"I think it would be nicer if it was calling out my name"I stepped back as he got closer."How about you come with us?""How about you fucking leave her alone?"Suddenly,the two guys collapsed on the ground,revealing a boy and girl that looked my age with frying pans in their hands.I was a little shocked but I burst out laughing,and my saviors too.A few seconds passed and I finally calmed down.The girl took my hand"You okay?Did those assholes do anything to you?"
"Yeah I'm fine thank you so much for saving me"I said with a little smile."Good"said the boy."Do you want us to escort you home?"
I felt embarrassed."No need,I live here"I pointed to my house.
"Hey,we're neighbors!"the girl said."We just moved here,we live next doors. I'm Morgan,and this is my twin Matthew "she said joyfully."We're French,so I'm thrilled to see what's up here!"
"Nice to meet you guys.I'm Leah.Hey,Matthew"Just Matt" he said smiling.I smile back and continued"I think we had history class,right?"
He scratched the back of his head"Now that you mention it,yeah,I remember sitting behind you."
"Okay,then I guess I'll see you guys around""Yeah"they said at the same time"Bye and thanks again!"I said as I walked away.
