In the beginning, the Earth was a barren rock, hurtling through space at a million miles an hour. There was no sun, no moon, no ocean, and certainly no people. Surviving on this hunk of stone was no easy task. Well, for most beings at least. A small group of lizard-like organisms were able to thrive on this rock, as they had no physical need to breathe, eat, or drink. These organisms were sentient, at least to an extent. Capable of nothing more than basic communication. Over time, however, they evolved to be amongst the most intelligent beings in the cosmos.
These beings, which modern media call dragons, spent millions of years flying through space on what would soon be called the Earth. The only thing on this rock aside from them, was a mysterious sphere with unknown origin. It rested atop the tallest mountain, as if reigning silently supreme over the empty planet. It had been there longer than the dragons, but few of the creatures showed it any interest. A select few however, sought more from their existence. They grew smarter, and with more intelligence comes greed.. They wanted to not just survive, but live. These four creatures discovered the object on the mountain, and worked together to unlock its secrets. After centuries of studying and experimenting, they discovered the mysterious power of the sphere. The Obron, or The Orb, gave incredible strength and abilities to these Elder Dragons. Each was gifted with a different form of Magik that would not only change them physically, but their personalities would reflect these abilities as well.
One was gifted with the Magik of the Earth. Her flesh became tougher, turning it brown with gold accents at the edge of her scales. She realized the very earth below her was her canvas. The dirt and stone moved, listening to her thoughts as if she was molding clay. With her new abilities, Dhara terraformed the planet they resided on. Great mountains and valleys were formed. Flora and fauna alike began to envelop the world, breathing life into their barren rock. Dhara's strength and toughness were reflected in her emotions, as she came to believe she didn't need her siblings' companionship any longer. Once her work was complete, she created a deep cave system and fell to rest in her home, never to be seen again.
Her sister was given the Magik of the water. Her scales turned pale blue, and a never ending source of water poured from her spine like a horse's mane. Easily the most beautiful of all of the dragons, she became narcissistic and envious. Nereus was jealous of her sister's vast property. So, in spite of Dhara, she flooded most of the world with oceans as far as the wing could fly. Filled them with millions of different kinds of animals and plant life. Each one represents a particular point of disdain towards her sister. Nereus found rest in the bottom of her deepest ocean, entering her eternal slumber.
The third Elder Dragon, Raijin, was given a midnight blue coloring, and sparks of lightning constantly peeled off of his scales. He had been gifted with the power of lightning, and became king of the skies. He quickly realized there was very little space for his territory. So, he created his own. With a bolt of lightning shot out of his jaws, he created the sky. Air to breathe, and as much open space as any flying dragon could ask for. Raijin's Magik however, also affected him emotionally. His mood could change as quickly as the weather. He realized that many of Dhara's creatures were evolving to have wings and were invading his home. Realizing he was under attack, he would turn the sky upside down and great clouds of lightning and rain would appear any time Dhara's animals would get too comfortable in his home. With his home protected, Raijin retired to the clouds.
The final Elder Dragon, whose name has been lost to history, was the most powerful of them all. He was several times larger than his siblings, and was bright red. Atop his head sat a crown made of his own bone, and believed himself to be King of All Creation. He hated how his siblings had created this world out of spite for each other, and sought to create peace between them. With ease, he created the Sun. The Sun would represent the unity of the four elements, and help sustain the life his siblings so dearly loved. He then took a piece of his creation, and put it in the center of their new planet, to truly connect their new home to its source of life. Nobody truly knows what happened to the Fire Dragon, but it was assumed that he rests in the center of the Earth, eternally protecting his creation.
With the Elder Dragons gone, the rest of their siblings grew jealous. They saw the power their siblings were given, and felt that it had been wasted. They used the Obron in hopes of gaining their own Magik. Unfortunately, they were not so lucky. Many of these dragons were killed when trying to use the Orb, while many others were disfigured and turned into monsters. These monsters which we now know as dinosaurs, were much more powerful than the remaining dragons. They forced their weaker siblings into hiding, and ruled the Earth for millions of years. They consumed Dhara and Nereus's children. They invaded Raijin's sky. And the Fire Dragon, without ever waking, rained fire down from the heavens and destroyed these abominations. The dragons finally came out of hiding, only to find that the Orb had created a new enemy.
Another form of intelligent life had begun to show its ugly head. They brought war, famine, and death to their home. With a new form of Magik that the lesser dragons had no way of combating, these new creatures had become the new apex predator.
Humans.
No one knew how the humans obtained their unique form of Magik, but they quickly became an enemy of the dragons, and without the original Elders to teach their children, they had no one to lead them. The dragons were hunted down to their last few hundred.
The remaining dragons fled to the northern part of the globe, hoping to find shelter in the frozen tundras. They never returned, and over generations were forgotten.
And so the tyrannical reign of the human race began.
