For weeks, Cody has to endure Heather flaunting Alejandro right in front of him. He knows she's doing it on purpose, and it stirs a rage inside him. But he keeps quiet. He keeps smiling politely and obeying anything Heather tells him to do. It's exhausting, but he knows it'll pay off.
"Ugh, all this cranberry juice is making me break out..." Heather studies her complexion in the mirror. Cody looks at her, not saying anything. He's thinking... Gwen works at a drugstore. "Wait! I have this really good skin stuff I'll bring you!" Heather looks at him with a surprised smile, "Really? Thanks."
They kept their eyes open for opportunities for sabotage.
When he visits Gwen at her workplace, he tells her about Heather's problem. Instantly he can see Gwen's face light up as she walks to the back of the store. She returns with a foot cream and an empty facial cleansing container. "What're you gonna do with that?" Cody asks. Gwen doesn't say anything, opening the empty container and squeezing all of the foot cream into it. She closes the lid and slides the container across the counter over to Cody "Give this to her." Cody laughs, "Dude, gross!"
When he gives it to Heather, she gasps, "Thank you!" She smiles, quickly grabbing the 'cleanser' out of his hands. At lunch, when Alejandro kisses Heather and tells her that her face smells like peppermint before leaning back in, all she does is smile cluelessly. Cody rolls his eyes at the scene.
Cody shivers. As they enter the holiday season the weather gets colder and colder. Cody looked around the school as he leaned against his locker, his brows furrowed at all the girls wearing their tops with holes cut at their breasts. Every single one of them was doing it. "Shit, this is ass, you guys." Gwen says from beside Cody, startling him as he hadn't noticed her arrival, nor Noah's, who was standing on his other side. "Fuck, when did you two get here? And why is everyone wearing their shirt with holes in them?" Gwen glares at the floor, "Well, yesterday when Heather was in PE class, I went into the changing room and cut holes in her tank top. But she didn't care! She just walked around with it, and now everyone wants to be her!" She groans.
"It's been a month, and all we've done is make Heather's face smell like a foot." She looks at Noah, who defends himself quickly, "I've been really busy with choir!" Gwen shakes her head. "We need to crack Courtney. Crack Courtney, and you crack the lock on Heather's dirty history." Noah gives her a dirty look, "Say 'crack' one more time... But, yeah. Courtney. That girl knows everything."
Gwen nods. "Alright, let's meet up tonight-" Cody shakes his head, "No, I can't! I have to go to Heather's to practice for the winter talent show. We're dancing to this song, It's called-" Noah and Gwen finish Cody's sentence for him, "Jingle Bell Rock." Cody smiles, "You guys know that song?" Noah laughs at Cody, shrugging, "Cody, everyone in the English-speaking world knows that song. The plastics do it every single year."
Cody half-listens to their rambling as he looks to the side, seeing Heather walking towards him. Shit. He can't be caught talking to Gwen and Noah, not in front of Heather. He panics and pushes Gwen away, whisper-yelling: "Go! Leave!"
Gwen looks in the direction where Cody is looking and gets the memo. She grabs Noah by the arm and drags him away, despite his protests.
Heather stands in front of Cody. He smiles awkwardly at her. "Why were you talking to Gwen?" She glares at him. Okay, straight-forward. Cody gulps. He can feel his skin burning with anxiety. "Oh. I don't know, I mean she's so weird! She just came up to me and started talking to me about crack!" He excuses. Heather bursts out laughing, "Yeah, that sounds like her! She's so pathetic." She goes on laughing before sighing, "But, let me tell you something about Gwen. We were best friends in middle school."
