CH. 7

Cody walks in to see Heather sobbing on her bed. Courtney and Lindsay sat awkwardly beside her as they attempted to console her. "What happened?" He asks.

Heather's shoulders shake as she cries, "Alejandro broke up with me. Someone told him about Trent!" her words muffled as she pushed her head into her hands. Courtney suddenly looks nervous, "Who told him?" Heather shrugs, "He said it was someone on the baseball team..." Courtney's brows furrow at that, and she looks over at Cody, who shakes his head and mouths 'I don't know.'

He knew. They both knew. And they knew better than to let Heather know that they knew.

-

"What?" Alejondro's eyes snap towards him. Cody clasps a hand around his mouth and looks away. He shouldn't have said that.

"I don't-" He's cut off with a stern look from Alejandro. Cody sighs shakily. It felt like his heart was painfully stuck in his throat. His eyes nervously shift up to meet Alejandro's. "With Trent." He finally admits, "Every Thursday, in the projection room above the auditorium."

Cody shifts uncomfortably in his seat as Alejandro stays silent for a while before scoffing, "So she wasn't hanging out with you and the others?" Cody shakes his head, his shoulders slightly shrugging.

Alejandro huffs, "I don't even know what to say." Cody's mouth opens and closes, looking for anything to say that might save him from the situation, but Alejandro stops him by putting a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you for telling me," He sighs, "You should probably go now."

-

Heather was becoming hysterical, "I just don't get it, I gave him everything! I was half a virgin when I met him!"

Lindsay puts a hand on Heather's shoulder and smiles, "You wanna do something fun?" She asks her, and Heather gives her a questioning glare. "You wanna go to Taco Bell?"

Heather's frown seems to get impossibly deeper, "I can't go to Taco Bell, I'm on an all-carb diet. God, Lindsay, you're so stupid!" Cody watches as Heather stands up and stomps out of the room, "Nobody understands me!" Courtney stands up and runs after Heather shortly after, calling out to her, "Wait, Heather, talk to me!"

Cody watches them leave with crossed arms and sighs before looking at Lindsay and moving to sit beside her. She stared at the door with somewhat glossy eyes. When she feels Cody sit beside her, she looks over to him. Cody smiles at her, "You're not stupid, Lindsay." He tells her. Lindsay blinks, before shaking her head. "No, I am. I'm failing almost everything."

Cody shrugs, "Well, there must be something that you're good at." Lindsay looked up at the ceiling in thought - if she was even capable of that, Cody doubted it, really. - before smiling. "I can fit my whole fist in my mouth, wanna see?" She tells him, already bringing her fist up to her mouth. Cody grabs her wrist and gently lowers her arm. "No, that's okay..."

Lindsay giggles, she seems to have already forgotten what had happened earlier. She's like a goldfish, Cody thought passively. "Anything else?" He asked her hopefully. Surely she had something going for her.

She smiles, "I'm kind of psychotic! It's like a fifth sense." Cody raises a brow at her, gesturing for her to continue. "It's like I have ESPN or something. My breasts can always tell when it's gonna rain!" Cody hums, "Really? That's amazing." Lindsay shrugs, "Well, they can tell when it's raining." Cody nodded slowly, that made more sense.

Step one of his revenge was done. Alejandro was now crossed off.

-

Cody had to admit that he was mildly horrified when Alejandro didn't immediately ask him to be his boyfriend. He knows he was sad, but how much time did he need? Heather had moved on. He'll never forget walking in on... A cold shiver runs through his body, and he feels a little nauseous just thinking about it.

He leans his head on his hand. Maybe he was just being delusional. Alejandro... He asked him to leave right after Cody told him the truth. He probably wanted nothing to do with him. Cody bit his lip nervously, hoping that wasn't the case. Gwen and Noah had assured him it wasn't, but he hadn't even talked to Alejandro since it happened.

But, overall, the plan had been going pretty well. Alejandro had dumped Heather, and she was unknowingly eating around five thousand calories a day. So it was time for them to turn their attention to the 'army of skanks.'

Cody turned his attention to the TV in the corner of the classroom as the screen flashed on. The 'Spring Fling' royalty nominees were being announced. Something that Noah was in charge of as a member of the Student Activity Committee.

"And now, the Spring Fling Queen nominees are as follows: Heather,"

The classroom gives unenthusiastic applause as Heather humbly smiles and rolls her eyes.

"Courtney, Gwen,"

Heather blinks and scoffs, "What is happening to the world?"

Gwen's jaw drops as she turns around in her seat to face Noah, giving him a scolding glare. Noah chuckles, "I couldn't help myself, it was so easy!" Cody smiles at them before turning back to the TV.

"And for the final nominee," The lady giving the announcement seems to quizically look at the teleprompter behind the camera, "...Cody Anderson."

Cody gasps, "Noah, you asshole! Did you put me in there too? That was not part of the plan. You could've at least nominated me for king." He huffs. Noah rolls his eyes at him, "I didn't put you there." He says, which makes Cody raise an eyebrow. "Really? Then who did? Was I really nominated?" He wonders, looking at the TV as it shuts off. Gwen and Noah look at each other and silently laugh. Noah did put him in there. It was just too easy.

In January, Heather had put a dress on hold in a store named 1-3-5. But, being Plastic, she needed the others' advice before she could buy it. Now they were all at the store and watching Heather struggle to zip the dress up.

She groans, "Can someone zip me up?" She looks over to the others. Lindsay walks up behind her and grabs the zipper, struggling to pull it upwards. "It won't close." Heather frowns, "What do you mean? It's a 5." Courtney glances between them and runs up to them, "It must be marked wrong."

Heather huffs and turns to Cody, "Cody, I've been eating all these Kälteen bars, they suck."

Cody swallows nervously, "No, that's just how they work. That's all water weight. First, you bloat, and then you lose 10 pounds, just like that!" He's making it all up on the spot, and if anyone else were to tell him the same story, he probably wouldn't believe it. Heather furrows her brows at him, and more lies seem to just pour out of him. "Well, the bars have burned up all your carbs and now your body is surviving just on water. But when that water is gone, your body will just be muscle. It explains it all on the label."

Heather hums, "You know Swedish?"

Cody nods a little too quickly, "Yeah! Everyone in Africa knows Swedish."

Lindsay gives up on trying to pull on the zipper and turns to the saleswoman. "Ma'am, do you have this in the next size up?" The woman shakes her head, "Sorry, we only carry sizes one, three, and five. You could try Sears." She grins and walks away.

Heather's jaw drops as she gasps, "That bitch!"
