There were also two types of thatched cottages.

The other was for long-term tenants!

Short-term tenants would stay for one or two days and leave.

Long-terms tenants could stay for much longer. They would be given a plot of land to farm and they could take away any of the crops grown by themselves.

Most of the short-terms tenants were tourists.

As for long-term tenants, most of them are those who have money and power or retirees.

After they retired, they had nothing to do, so they could come here to recuperate. They could also farm to kill time. This was a real rural life, but it was a lot less taxing than actual farming work.
