Chapter 38

ST. ANNE'S CHURCH
[Klaus hands Kieran the communion goblet full of his blood after he has drained the vervain from his system.]
Klaus: Drink up. It will heal your wound. [Kieran reluctantly drinks Klaus' blood]
Klaus: I think you've suffered enough. [He stares directly into his eyes and compels him] You will overcome what the witches did to you. You will resist the dark urges of their hex.
"It's not how it works." Said Layla.
"I know now." Said Klaus.
"Why didn't just siphon it?" Asked Hayley.
"Even if i siphon it, it won't go away. This kind of hexes leave mark on mind." Said Bella.
"So you can't siphon hexes?" Asked Hayley.
"I can siphon most of the them, but there is very few hexes even siphoners can't cure. Hexes which start working on your mind as fast as you were hexed. Like hunter curse or this." Said Bella. Hayley nodded.
[Kieran blinks as Klaus backs away from him, and they all wait a moment.] 
Cami: Did it work? 
Kieran: How do I know if it worked? All I know is that the vervain is out, and I'm at the mercy of this murderous bastard. I bet you find that really funny, don't you, Cami? You little–- [He cuts himself off, clearly shocked and embarrassed] I'm sorry. I don't know why I said that. 
Klaus: [disappointed] Well, I guess that's our answer. [He turns to leave, and Cami chases after him.]
Cami: Wait, Klaus! Where are you going? What are we going to do?
Klaus: I'm gonna find the witch who did this, and then I'm gonna do what I do best.
"Romantic." Said Layla.
FRENCH QUARTER
[Elijah has just awakened on the ground, and is breathing heavily, still weakened from the spell Celeste cast on him.]
Elijah: You poisoned me with a kiss. At least you haven't lost your sense of irony. 
Celeste: We may have time for more. But first, I'm going to cure you of your greatest flaw-- this absurd devotion to your lunatic family. 
Elijah: Your anger is with me. Now, if you have come here seeking revenge–-
Celeste: [cuts him off] Oh, I'll have my revenge. Starting with Klaus. He is gonna know pain like he's never felt before. Unless you choose to save him, of course. But then that leaves Bella, your tragic sister. She's about to find herself in quite the predicament. You could save her. But then that leaves Hayley in jeopardy...
Elijah: [panicked] No. No, no...
Celeste: Poor girl. She has no idea how dangerous it is to be loved by you. Oh well. With your body weakened by my spell, you won't be able to save them all. You'll recover with just enough time to choose  one. Who will it be? I can't wait to find out. 
"We really have terrible taste. Except Kol. He has great taste." Said Bella and winked at Davina. Davina blushed, Kol smirked.
The Woods
[Oliver is dragging Bella in the woods.]
Bella: We could go in house.
Oliver: Isn't woods more exciting? [Bella stops and looks at him suspicious.]
Oliver: What is it? [Bella grabs his neck and vamp-speed him into tree.]
Bella: Why are you trying to distract me?
Oliver: What do you--
Bella: Oh, please, I invented this method.
"Really?" Asked Davina.
"Probably not. Someone else before me would have done it, but it sounded cooler than i do it often." Said Bella.
[Oliver looks nervous. Bella grabs his heart.]
Bella: You have three seconds before i rip out your heart. Three... Two...
Oliver: Okay. Okay. I made a deal with a witch.
Bella: What deal? With whom? [Oliver looks over her shoulder. Bella looks at him in confusion as werewolves (in wolf form) surround her, growling ferociously. Bella drops Oliver in surprise. After a moment, werewolves lunge at her and begin to attack her. Bella is bitten few times. She gets angry and throws them away with magic, than with spell she snaps every wolf's necks there.]
"Wow. You did it so easily." Said Davina.
"I'm Original heretic. Dogs aren't enought to defeat me." Said Bella.
"Not dogs." Muttered Hayley.
[Dead wolves are lying around Bella. She fell on the ground, because of numerous wolf bites. Bella siphons all the bites out. Than hears footsteps approaching her. It's Leo.]
Leo: Impressive. We understimated you, but it still can be fixed.
Bella: (angrily) You! 
Leo: [smirks] Me! You will pay for everything. [Bella stands up with cruel smile.]
"She scares me." Said Davina.
"She scares us all." Said Marcel. Bella looked smug.
Bella: No, you are gonna pay for everything you have done to Layla! [Leo throws spell at Bella, she jodges.]
Layla smiles.
Leo: Don't mention that abomination to me!
Everyone glares at him.
Bella: No one talks about my daughter like that! [Bella throws at him spell which makes him drop screaming.]
"Thank you." said Layla.
"Of course." Said Bella.
Bella: Do you feel that? That's your internal organs melting inside you.
Leo: [laughing] She is still not your daughter!
Bella: She is my daughter! I raised her, i fed her, i taugh her, i was the one who was there when she was sick or when she got her first boyfriend, I was the one who helped her though nightmares! The nightmares you caused! So yes, She is my daughter! Not yours! Mine!
Layla smiled at Bella, Bella smilled back.
Flashback– 1802- Layla's room
[Layla is crying and screaming, while sleeping.]
Layla: No, no! Bella! Please don't leave me. Please. I will be better, please.
Everyone looks at her with pity.
[Bella rushes in the room worried.]
Layla: Dad, please. Don't. Don't. [Bella shakes her softly.]
Bella: Layla. Layla. Layla. [Layla wakes up gasping and sees Bella and hugs her and continues crying. Bella pattes her hair and whispers sweet nothing in her ear.]
Bella: Shh. It's okay. I's okay, firefly. I'm here. You are safe. He will never hurt you again.
Layla: Please, don't leave me.
Bella: Shh... i won't. I will not leave you. [Layla looked up at her with vulnerable eyes.]
Layla: Promise me. Promise me you will never leave me.
Bella: I promise I will never leave you and I will be with you always and forever. [Layla smiled through tears.]
Everyone smiled at the promise.
Bella: Move over! [Layla looks confused, but moves. Bella lays next to her and places Layla's head on her chest.]
Bella: Sleep! I will fight the bad dreams if they come to get you. [Layla smiles.]
Everyone smiles at cute moment.
The woods–Present
[Leo is still screaming in pain and he dies. Bella burns his body, takes out phone and calls Klaus.]
LAFAYETTE CEMETERY
[Bastianna and Celeste are standing outside one of the tomb. Each of them are holding a candle in their hands while they chant a spell.]

FRENCH QUARTER
[Elijah awakens once again on the ground. His phone starts buzzing, and when he sees that it's Bella, he answers it. He's still breathing heavily as he tries to recover from the spell.]
Elijah: [worried] Bella.
Bella: Elijah, werewolves and witch attacked me. I handled it. How are you?
Elijah: I'm fine. Hayley was right. Celeste is back. Hayley and Niklaus are in danger. I'm coming now.
Bella: No, I am going in the house right know. Hayley is here, i can hear her. I will protect her and baby. You go with Nik. He isn't answering calls.
Everyone is on edge.
FORMER MIKAELSON MANSION
[At the plantation house, Bella runs in talking with Elijah on phone. The door claps shut by a gust of wind.]
Jackson: What's going on? 
Bella: It's a trap. Fast. We have to get out of here!
Jackson: What? [A fire starts around the perimeter of the plantation house. When Bella puts phone in her pocket, grabs Hayley's hand and Jackson's hands and goes to rush out the door, they find they can't because a boundary spell has been set over the threshold.]
Hayley: We are trapped.
Elijah(o.s.): Bella what is happening?! [Bella siphons spell and rushes out with Hayley and Jackson. Bella takes out phone and talks to Elijah.]
Bella: Hayley and baby are out of danger. We are all okay. Look for Nik. [Bella hungs up.]
Niklaus smiled at Bella gratefully, Bella smiled back.
Bella: (to Hayley) Come on! We have to get out of here.
FRENCH QUARTER
[Klaus walks through the streets with Monique Deveraux in tow.]
Klaus: Witches of the French Quarter! I have with me Monique Deveraux. What a shame it would be were I forced to sent her back to the death she's just escaped! Should you wish to prevent this, bring me the witch Bastianna!
Marcel: The hell you think you're doing? 
Klaus: I'm opening negotiations.
Marcel: You know my rules. We do not hurt kids. 
Klaus: Spare me the hypocrisy of your moral code. It didn't stop you from killing Monique's mother. [He yells toward the buildings] Bastianna! I know you're close. The stench of witches hangs in the air. Mark my words! I will end this girl with the very blade you meant for me. 
Marcel: I'm not saying it again. We do not kill kids. [Klaus holds the blade near Monique's throat. Marcel vamp-speeds up to him. They start to fight. While they fight, Klaus loses hold of the blade and it falls to the ground. Klaus gains the upper hand and snaps Marcel's neck, dropping his body unceremoniously to the ground.]
Klaus: I decide who lives and dies here, Marcellus.
"Him and his tantrums." Muttered Bella.
[Suddenly, Sophie appears, having picked up Papa Tunde's abandoned blade off the ground. While Klaus is distracted, she stabs Klaus in the heart with the blade, and he roars out in pain. As he groans, the blade embeds itself deep into his chest, and after a moment of screaming in agony, he falls to the ground. Bastianna comes out of the shadows and joins them.]
Bastianna: I'll take it from here. 
"Bitch." Said Layla.
[Elijah vamp speeds and chops of Bastianna's head. While Elijah is distracted by getting Tunde's blade out of Klaus, Sophie grabs Monica and runs.]
"Woohooo!" Cheered Layla.
"Me and Elijah saved the day. Like always." Said Bella and winked at Elijah, Elijah smiled. Then Bella turned around and hit Klaus.
"What were you thinking, you idiot?!" Said Bella. Everyone laughed. Klaus glared at her.
FRENCH QUARTER
[A very anxious Sophie is trying to persuade Monique to leave New Orleans with her as they head toward her Jeep.]
Sophie: Come on. We have to go.
Monique: I don't wanna go.
Sophie: Monique, this isn't a debate. I just stabbed an Original. He's gonna kill me as soon as he's recovered. Look, I'm sorry for everything. I should have come and got you before that stupid Harvest. But you can still have a normal life, one without all this crazy witch nonsense.
"But she is a witch." Said Layla.
Monique: But I am a witch. And I don't want to go. [Monique uses her magic to give Sophie multiple aneurysms, and Sophie clutches at her head in agony.]
Sophie: [shocked and betrayed] Monique?
Monique: The ancestors said you didn't have enough faith. I was hoping they were wrong. I should've known better. [Sophie's nose begins to bleed.]
Sophie: [pleads] Monique.
Monique: You tried to stop the Harvest. 
Sophie: Please don't do this. 
Monique: Now you wanna run when we need to stay and fight.
Sophie: Please, I'm begging you. Don't, don't–
Everyone looked at Sophie with pity.
Monique: The four of us, when we return... We'll have enough power to rid this city of vampires, and we'll kill anyone who doesn't keep the faith.[Sophie's eyes start bleeding, and she begins coughing up blood.]
Tears fell from Davina's eyes at seeing her friend like this.
Sophie: [begs weakly] Monique... please...
Monique: [unsympathetic] You should have believed.
Sophie: Stop... please... [Sophie dies and falls to the ground. Monique turns around, where Celeste and Bastianna are waiting for her. The four of them walk back into the Quarter, leaving Sophie's dead body in the street near her car.]
"Poor girl. She just wanted to save her niece and now she got killed by her." Said Layla.
