Sorbet's POV

My eyes shot open, and I instantly sat up and looked around. I was confused. How the hell was I back at base? I looked down at myself, down at my hands. There were scars across them, spreading across my hands in a straight line just below my middle knuckle. I moved my dark blue sleeve, which revealed another scar below my wrist. When I touched my face, there were scars there too. One went across my cheeks, connecting at the edges of my mouth. Another bisected my face across the bridge of my nose. And the last cut across my forehead. I closed my eyes, trying to figure out how and why I was here and remembering what happened. When it clicked in my head, my eyes went wide. But that was soon interrupted by a sound... A shout. And a voice I knew all too well.

"Sorbet!" they shouted. Footsteps approached me quickly before I was met with a tight hug. I looked over to the person hugging me and instantly returned the gesture. It was my friend. My best friend. My partner in crime. My lover.

"Gelato..." I whispered, starting to tear up as he put his head on my shoulder and sobbed. I held him tighter, closer to me, not wanting to let him go. "My sweet Gelly..."

"Sorbet, miele," he spoke, his voice cracking with emotion. "I- I'm so sorry. I- I couldn't... I wanted to help you, but I... And- and when I saw your eyes, I..."

"Amore mio," I began, lifting his face lightly in my hand. "I'm sorry you had to see all that happen to me..." I cupped his cheek in my hand, noticing the mark around his mouth from his gag. "I'm sorry I couldn't help you either, tesoro." I gave him a small kiss on his cheek before continuing. "But, it's okay now. We're together again. And nothing will hurt you. Nothing will hurt us."

"Not ever again."
