Mizuto yawned and woke up. The light in his closet was the only light on. He looked over in its direction and spotted a girl standing there staring at him. Mizuto started to recognize who it was.
"Azu? Is that you?"
"Mizuto... Find me." Azu said as the light flickered and Mizuto was in the dark.
He walked over to the closet and turned the light on. She was gone.
"I'm imagining things... But why Azu?" Mizuto said confusingly.
Azu was Mizuto's old classmate. A small shy girl. Mizuto was pretty much the only person she talked to. One day, he received a letter from her telling him that she had moved. Mizuto was the only person in his class who cared and missed Azu. Mizuto started his regular morning routine. Changing into his school uniform, brushing his teeth, fixing his hair, then heading downstairs to get something to eat. He sat down at the table in the kitchen as his dad set down a plate in front of him. The plate consisted of eggs, bacon, and toast. The perfect breakfast one could say. Mizuto munched on his bacon while his little sister, Aoi, sat down beside him. Their dad set a plate down in front of her with the same things Mizuto had. She squealed and then started eating, which is something that she would've done 3 months ago. In reality, she just said a quick prayer before starting to eat her breakfast. She started randomly acting like this one day. She came home from school looking depressed and hasn't changed since. Mizuto finished his breakfast and stood up from the table.
"Heading to school. Bye, Aoi. Love you." He said as he grabbed his backpack and walked towards the door.
"Love you too..." She mumbled.
Mizuto smiled. He opened the door and walked out. He made his way over to the bus stop. Mizuto stared at his phone screen, as somebody crept up behind him.
"Aha!" The person yelled. "I got you now!" They jumped at Mizuto. Mizuto simply just sidestepped and the person fell to the ground. "Ow. That hurt Mizuto!"
"Don't try to sneak attack me like that then Ikari." Mizuto snickered
Ikari stood up and huffed. "I'll get you some time." Ikari immediately stood still as he looked at the girl walking up behind Mizuto.
Mizuto knew who was approaching. He could sense her. Mizuto turned around and smiled. His purple hair flowed with the wind and his emerald green eyes sparkled.
"Morning Naru!" He said.
"Morning sweetums." She squished his cheeks. "How did you sleep?"
They both talked back for a little while. Naru was a tall pretty girl, with short pink hair, big round glasses, cute little earrings, and always smelt like strawberries. After waiting for 20 minutes, the bus finally arrived. The bus was always late, so they expected 20 minutes. After a bus drive that felt like it would never end (for Ikari at least), they all hopped off and headed on to their school.
Sakura High School. The high school where only the best were allowed in. Mizuto, Ikari, and Naru luckily made it into this amazing school. It's one of the best in the state. Everybody knew about Sakura High School. It's known for having teachers that were experts. Not a single person has ever failed a class. Everybody who graduates from this school always ends up going to work the job they wanted to go to. Doctors, firefighters, police officers, lawyer, and even computer scientists. Sakura was a huge school. 4 floors, and almost 6 acres of land. There was so much to do. At every door was a police officer who checked every person's bag. Nobody knew why this was a thing, but people don't mind it. They have nothing to hide. Hopefully. The school had, there was a football field, soccer field, tennis court, baseball field, and an ice rink.
Mizuto walked to class with Naru and Ikari. They all talked in a single file line due to the rules. All three of them made their way inside their science class. They all had the first class together, but all the other classes were different. The only other thing the three had together was lunch. Mizuto plopped down at his desk and looked around the room. He rested his head down and closed his eyes for a second. Once he opened them back up, the room was dark. He tried to get up but ended up falling onto the floor. The lamp on the teacher's desk turned on, and sitting in the big comfy rolly chair was Azu. She got up and walked over to her old desk. She traced her hand on the top, then looked at Mizuto.
"Why me? What did I ever do to deserve such a terrible fate? I never did anything wrong. I was a good person. Where did everything go wrong?" She mumbled quietly.
"Azu... what happened?" Mizuto said as he started to shake in fear.
The lamp light turned off, then turned back on. There was a giant katana through Azu's face. Mizuto screamed as he stood up and tried to run away, but he knocked over a chair and fell onto the ground again.
'Mizuto... find me." Azu said.
Mizuto's head jolted up as he had now woken up from his nap. The other students were looking at him as the teacher stood in front of his desk.
"If you're gonna sleep, then do it somewhere else, Mr. Orozco. Now, let's get back to work." She said as she walked back to the front board to continue teaching.
When class was over, Mizuto walked over to Azu's old desk. He squatted down and looked under it. He found a picture of Azu. He snatched it and walked to his desk. After taking a good look at it, he felt as if he wanted to throw up. It was Azu's decapitated body laying in a dark room.
"Oh, crap... Azu didn't move... She was murdered." Mizuto mumbled to himself.
Mizuto stood up and walked out of the room. He made his way to the nurse's office to tell her he didn't feel well and that he threw up earlier. She agreed to let him leave. Mizuto left the school and started walking down the sidewalk that led to his home.
"Who could've killed her..." Mizuto mumbled to himself. "Who would want her dead?"
After unlocking the front door to his house, he made his way up the stairs and into his room. His dad was off at work, and his sister was still at school.
"Looks like I've got my first clue."
