You heard the rumors from Inez. You can't believe a word she says. Most times, but this time it was true.

~Betty's POV~

I'm in my car, waiting for my best friend June to get out of her house. I've been waiting for nearly ten minutes.
She finally comes out, bag almost falling hanging from one elbow, shoes untied. She runs to my car and opens the door "Heyyyy, sorry for making you wait. Again". I look at her with a are you serious look "Next time I'm driving without you. I'll go record shopping without you." "WHAT?! You can't BETRAY me like that!" I stare at her, she stares back "I'll try to be on time from now on! I said I was sorry!"

She turns the radio on then groans "ugh can you believe summer is over in a week and a half?" I groan and make a whining noise "Don't remind me please. I am NOT ready for senior year".

We get to the shopping center and immediately go get coffee. I'm waiting at table when June hands me a cup and a paper bag.
"One iced caramel macchiato and blueberry Muffin to go. Can we go to the record store now? They have a whole new stock. You HAVE to see it!" her mouth half full from her own giant cookie. "Yes omg miss impatient." We walk out the coffee shop and go to the record store.

We spend almost 30 minutes in the store. When we reach the indie section for the third time June asks "Did you see James yet?" I sigh, "no. he only got back two days ago. He called me when he got back but It was late, and yesterday he said he was at his grandmas so we didn't get a chance to see each other. It's weird. He's been really suspicious, I feel like he may be avoiding me" she takes out a record an puts it back in "why would your boyfriend avoid you after not seeing you for two months?". We share a look, both of us trying to think over every possibility.

I look down at my hands "you don't think he might have... I don't know... did something? Like... be with someone else? Right?" she laughs. But immediately stops. Only half meaning it. "James? No! The guy is amazing. And head over heels obsessed with you" "yeah yeah, you're right. I mean, I said I wanted some space from him after the prom, but we didn't break up! We talked a lot when he was away."

I ended up getting Adele's "25" and a cute tote bag. When we pay June flirts with the cashier. She's been trying to get her number all summer long.

We walk out of the store "just give up at this point she isn't giving you her number!" I say laughing and hit June's shoulder. She looks down "yeah I know... but she's so hot!".

"Hey Betty! June!" we turn around confused to find Inez, Mia and Iris. They are overall nice, but the biggest gossips you'll ever meet. Most of the time what they say is total bullshit. We're also not really friends which is why I'm confused.

"Hey Inez, how are you?" June says with a slight sassy tone. She's always like that with them. "pretty good" Inez responds and looks at June with a bitchy face. They have had some sort of ongoing feud since third grade. "But Betty," she turns to me "I heard something that you and James broke up? What he did to you is awful." I have an extremely confused look on my face but she doesn't seem to notice because she just goes on. "Even if you 'wanted space' or whatever, how could he betray you like that?"

June probably notices that I had completely froze, pushes me towards my car and yells to the girls behind us "ok we have to go bye! Nice talking to you!"

June opens the door to the drivers seat, sits me down and goes around the car. I'm still frozen and on the verge of breaking down crying. "HEY! She's lying! You can't believe a word she says!" I blink rapidly "Yeah. Yeah, right. She's lying. Just another Inez rumor." She points and says "exactly. Like the time she told almost the entire school Sadie and Miles were together because they were TALKING at a party? She spreads rumors like wildfire. Now let's go home and listen to our new records"
