Staring at your homework, you couldn't focus on the words, or the numbers..? What class was this even for again?

You shook your leg up and down, beginning to feel your eyes burn. You were in the middle of the cafeteria, you couldn't cry, you'd just embarrass yourself.

Why were you even so emotional all of a sudden? Green said he'd come back, and you trusted his word.. you trusted that he'd come back.. right?

Letting your head fall to the table, you groaned. Why couldn't you just think of something else? Like how loud it was in here? Or how you still needed to do your fucking homework!?

"Can I sit with you?"

You craned your head up to see a pink haired girl smiling at you. Her red glasses only added to her outfit of a pink puffer jacket and flared jeans. You would never be caught dead in that outfit.. not that it didn't look too bad, just expensive and uncomfortable. "Does it look like anyone else is sitting here?"

She glanced around the rest of the round table, grinning. "Nope!" And so she sat down right next to you. "I'm Sally, Sally Jackson. Just moved here from the Serpentine Valley. It's my first time in a public school, and I have gotten so lost. Thanks for letting me sit here by the way, really kind. Did you want to be my friend? You look tired, should I stop talking...? Oh- I have been talking way too long..."

Sighing, you glanced back to your homework, lifting up your pencil. "You're.. fine. And I'm Y/n. And.. I don't really have.. friends..."

"Then why don't I be the first? Let me try.." Sally cleared her throat again. "Hi, I'm Sally Jackson, best friend of Y/n.. Whateveryourlastnameis."

The corners of you mouth twitched up, she was strangely endearing. "Sure. I'm Y/n Peterson, and this is my friend Sally Jackson.. you sure me though? Not any cliques or other friend groups where you wouldn't feel lonely?"

She raised an eyebrow, smiling. "No? You look more lonely than me. And I'm the new kid, so I get to decide who I want to be friends with.. right? That's how it is in movies..."

"More or less.." You bit the inside of your cheek, not exactly sure how to feel. She'd eventually find other people, so why couldn't you just pretend you had a friend for a bit? It might help you get your mind off of Green..

Sally stood up slightly, looking over your shoulder at your homework. "Oh! Is this Mr. Lionns class? I have him 2nd period..! I got lost and never made it to class.. excited to be in your class, classmate! Did you need help with that? It's just a simple read and respond for the Battle of Stiix, right? I'm honestly surprised they already added that to the curriculum. It only happened like.. less than 20 years ago. I wonder if they're going to add the Explosion of the Monastery soon, or any of the other big things that happened the past few years that involve the Ninja. Like recent things that didn't have to do with the war.

You furred your brow, glancing at her. "The Serpentine Wars involved the Ninja? But they're only teens..?" Or Green was a creep- no, he was definitely acting more like a 16 year old than a 30+ year old man. And you trusted him.. he was.. nice.

She took a sip of her water, frowning. "You know their ages? I've not seen articles regarding their ages, is that new information they released?"

Catching your breath in your throat you looked for a way around the truth. "Uhm- last week.. I almost got hit by a car and.. and the Green Ninja saved me.. his build was kinda similar to people in our school, and he had the voice of a teen, so I just kind of assumed they were all teens. I'm um- I'm fine now.. he helped me not have a panic attack on a roof.. hah.."

Sally's eyes widened, her mouth falling agape. "You met the Green Ninja?! Why didn't you tell me before?? That's so cool! I- not the almost getting run over or having a panic attack.. but you have a conversation with him! Could you tell what he looked like? Did you have any idea who he could be?? Was he hot?"
