They arrived a little before lunch. Winnie spread the fare on the blanket, and the three sat down and joyfully made little pigs of themselves. After lunch, Amelia, fussy and grumpy, was placed in the back seat of the car for a nap.

Her parents wandered down to the stream, barely fifty feet from the car.

Amelia woke from her nap and stared at the ceiling of the Chevy. She wondered where her Mommy and Daddy were. Before she had time to register her displeasure at being left alone in the back seat, the car door opened.

Faster than you could say, 'Limpity Cricket can fix it,' Amelia found herself nestled in the arms of a stranger who smelled just like her Daddy's favorite aftershave.

He stuck a Choc-O-Chock Full-A-Nuts bar in her fat little hand. Amelia immediately began munching on the candy bar.
