The next morning i woke up and thought i was in a dream. I was back at my folks crib in manhattan in my old room. Staring up at stars on my ceiling i had when I was little.
What happened yesterday didnt seem real until a knock on my door came.
"Nasir" i looked at the door to see my mothers smiling face, "you up?" She asked me
I nodded and sat up straight immediately. "Maam" i said to her and she smiled and came to get into my bed with me, she sat against the wall as I laid on my side in front of her.
"How are you little man.. you so big now i dont even know you" she said to me chuckling.
I smiled at her, "im good mom, i just woke up" I told her, "feels like i woke up from a bad dream" i told her and she nodded.
"Kane I want you to know something" she laid down so that we were face to face with each other. She smelled like mint and strawberries. "I never stopped loving you guys okay? I wanted nothing more to find ways out of that basement to come and be with my kids. You mean the world to me and i couldnt be happier to be home"
My mothers words filled me like a glass of water. Refreshing to hear compassion from my mother, rather than harsh advice from my dad.
"I know mom" i replied, "i missed you alot, im glad you're okay"
She smiled and kissed my forehead, the warmest thing ive ever felt. "I missed you so much more"
She then quickly sat up and pulled me up to, "now tell me why ya father jackin you popped somebody?" She asked me with a serious face.
My heart dropped, fuck. My moms going to be so disappointed in me. I couldnt help but start to tear up. "Dont you dare cry nasir" she said to me, "why would you go and do something like that?" She asked me
I sat and stared at my moms face as i tried to think of something that would make her less disappointed. The truth is okay but... she might be mad. I just got her back she cant be mad at me.
"I was overwhelmed" i said truthfully, "dad had got in an accident, ron was actin super crazy and then grandma died... somebody was talking crazy and i just.. did it"
She sighed and hugged me, "its okay baby"
Wow... this.. i like this.
"Nobody knows and as long as thats the fact you're going to be fine. Im not letting nobody take you from ya family you hea me?" She asked and i nodded.
"Ight come on i made breakfast" i got up and put on my house shoes and followed my mom into the kitchen.
It was like a sunset threw up in there. My sisters chuckling and laughing with Makhai. Dad making himself some orange juice and mom handing me a plate of food.
"Thank you" i said and sat down beside my sibling
"Hey twin" kass sat next to me, i mugged her a little. She being nice.
"Hey twin" i said, "whats up"
"Nothing arent you happy moms home?" She asked and i chuckled and looked at her
"Kassidy you the only one beaming ear to ear like the monkey you are" Kai joked and i laughed hard as hell wit my brother.
Mom rolled her eyes and came around the counter to hug Kassidy, "leave my baby alone at least someone is happy to see me"
"Oh nah mom.. im beaming ear to ear too" kai then walked over and gave her a huge bare hug. Her small, frail body couldnt handle it and she stumbled, kai noticed and backed off, "my bad mom"
