|Light|
I must have fallen asleep on Orange Leader, for next thing I knew, I was being gently shook awake. "Light, you should wake up. Dinner is waiting for us." His voice was gentle in the quiet as I pry my tired eyes open. With a groan, I try to take in my surroundings. What was going on again? Let me think... Right. I was at the Lilac Core's HQ. Gosh... I really felt tired.
"I think he just needs a moment." Another voice breaks through my thoughts and a light chuckle follows his voice. I can only see a glimpse of him from my tired position, but I can see his familiar white buttoned shirt with violet shoulder pads adorning his tall stature. Violet Leader. "Yeah. We'll catch up in a moment, Violet. I'll wait until he's fully awake and then bring him along." Orange Leader's voice hummed through his body, bringing with it a sense of comfort. "Alright."
After a few minutes of silence, I feel Orange Leader shake me gently again. "Alright, sleepy head Shy. Come on. Let's get up." After his prompt, I finally sigh and shift up, more aware of my surroundings. Floral wallpaper greeted me from the walls as torches illuminated the room and the curtains barely showed the dark world outside. "Mmf... How long was I asleep for?" My voice is filled with my sleep I was still shaking off as Orange Leader takes me by the hand and helps me to stand up. "Two hours. Admittedly I had taken a bit of a nap beside you after you passed out on me." He chuckles and I meet his eyes, then glance down at the ground, feeling a bit embarrassed.
"I see." I murmur, before I stretch out the soreness that was starting to settle into my body. "Well, I'm sure the others are waiting for us, so we should go for dinner." He says before turning towards the door. Without missing a beat, I follow after him. I was feeling pretty peckish so... yeah. Food sounded nice right now. We both ventured down the halls of the Sanctuary for a bit, before we made it to the private dinning hall. A guard who was out of armor sees us both and goes to open the door. Hushed conversations flowed into the hall for a moment before everyone's attention turned to us.
Practically everyone was here as the room sat illuminated by torches along the wall. "Light!!" A white blur bolts up and darks to me, his brown hair brushing against my cheek. I let a relieved smile pass over my face and hug my brunette friend tightly. It... was a relief to be back with him again. "Hey, Sabre." My voice was soft and low, so only he could hear it, but the room went silent, as to let us have our moment.
Once he finally shifted back, I took into consideration Sabre's attire. It was... entirely different. It was stunningly beautiful. Every facet of the gems sewn into the seams and fabric, gleamed in the candle light. "Since when did you get this outfit," I ask him, then look at his face.
"Oh uh... That uhm- Happened. When I..." He clears his throat. "... Resurrected you." I pause then stare at him dead on. He... did WHAT?! My shock must have shown in my face as he waves his hand in front of it. "Uh- Chief?"
I blink, then rub my eyes. "I'm present. Just- How?? You have never done that sort of thing before! I've never seen you with any sort of abilities!" My mind flitted back to the times I had to encounter Sabre, as he was slowly being consumed by the darkness and I feel an unease slide down my spine.
"Well uhm... I've- Had abilities all this time. They just got... locked."
The entire room goes silent and I tilt my head to look at my auburn haired friend in confusion. They were... locked? "Could you... Explain further, Sabre?" Orange Leader speaks from my right. A grimace shifts across Sabre's face and he rubs his neck with obvious unease. "I... Well, I explained to you guys how I'm not from this world, correct?" He turns around to look at everyone in the room, who nods, except for the two other non-steves who sat at the end of the table where it seemed Sabre had been sitting at. "Well... In that world where I come from, a lot of people had these abilities we called, Birthrights. We were born with these abilities and they varied- Kinda like how different colors of Steves have different things they can do." Sabre pauses a moment to take a deep breath, as the crackling of the lit torches filled the silence.
"I was born with one of the most powerful birthrights out there. The Favrean Enigma. It means that I have the ability to manipulate the very fabric of reality, in ways that I wish. However, I wasn't really trained on how to use it, because my dad didn't have it, so I never really... used it. It was really dangerous to. That and... well, I was being hunted by these people, who just wanted to use me for their own selfish gain." As he spoke, he undid his blindfold and took it off to hold it in his hands. His scared emerald eye glimmering in the torchlight. "Being hunted by these people is the entire reason that I left my own world, and started to travel to other ones, since we had these portals that allowed us to traverse reality. Yet... when I was dragged into this one, I couldn't use any of my abilities anymore. I'm guessing it was because of- Void Steve. It's why.. well, You all never saw me do that sort of thing before."
The silence fills the room again. It was... a bit hard to process what he said. He takes a moment to breathe and then glances around the room. I don't know what came over me, but I knew it was the right thing to do.
I gently placed my hand on Sabre's shoulder, prompting him to look at me. "As long as you are here, Sabre, you are safe. I'm not going to let anything else happen to you, ok?" My voice rings in the quiet air as a look of confusion and shock flit through his eyes, before he sighs and smiles, relieved. "Thanks, Light."
Bringing him in for a hug, we then spend the rest of the time eating in good company. Everyone was relieved that I was back and told me several stories about what happened, in order to catch me up to speed. I also finally got to catch up with the two non-steves, Lucas and Tewtiy. They expressed to me how they were thankful I saved Sabre. Lucas definitely muttered a side-comment under his breath, however, that I was an idiot. If anything, I laughed it off and agreed with him that I was stupid, but I'd rather be stupid and save someone else, rather than be stupid for the rest of eternity.
Yet one thing that was odd, however, is that Orange Leader and Yellow Leader weren't chatting with each other like they have in the past. I noticed several times, Yellow Leader throw a glance Orange Leader's way, and Orange Leader return it. Was something going on between them?
After a while, one by one, everyone started to leave. All the leaders began to leave first, then the elites and finally, it was me and the non-steves.
"So. Light." The deeper tone of Tewtiy's voice brings me to turn my head and look at him. "Yes?" He turns to look at Sabre, then back at me. "I have a few Questions."
