Carleigh's POV:

*3 days later*

I woke up around noon from my usual nightmare. I brushed it off and rolled out of bed and flopped on to the floor. I contemplated just staying there, not wanting to go to school until I remembered that it was Saturday. I kicked off my blankets and stood up and brushed my hair out of my face with my hand. I tip-toed down the stairs and to the kitchen. Allison was sitting at the table reading a newspaper. She looked extremely worried. Tears were forming in her eyes. I started to walk over to her but she saw me and jumped, flipping the page. "Carleigh! Don't sneak up on me like that!" She half shouted wiping her eyes. I gave her an apologetic, yet questioning look and turned away.

I plucked an apple from a bowl on the counter and began to leave but Allison stopped me. "Honey, your father and I are going to his work party this after noon and wont be back until very late. I don't want to leave you here alone so-" I cut her off by pointing upstairs to Jonah's room. I wouldn't be alone if her was here. "He's sleeping at a friends house tonight. Like I was saying I was thinking about calling Nat and having him keep you company while we're gone." I nodded with a small smile. " Great! I'll call him right now." Her voice sounded nervous. She's left me home alone before. What was she reading in the newspaper?

*4 hours later*

"Hey Carls! Nat's here! We're leaving!" John shouted from the bottom of the stairs. I was right in the middle of a nap so I did not want to get up. I don't know why but I was really tired. So, I pulled my comforter over my head and rolled over to face the wall. There was a knock on the door and I groaned in response. The door opened anyway.

"Caaaarleeiigh?" Nat said in a quiet voice. "Carls, I know your awake." I decided to ignored him just to mess with him. "Carls get up!" Nat whined, making me smile under the covers. "Carleigh Rose Adams if you don't get your lazy butt up right now you will regret it!" He shouted but I could hear him grinning. I stayed where I was trying not to laugh. "Fine. You've left me no choice." I wondered what he was going to do. Then, I felt him climb on top of me
"Last chance, Carleigh." Nat warned. However, I was determined not to let him win. He stood up and began jumping up and down above me shout-singing "We're Not Gonna Take It!" I bounced up from under the covers and smacked his legs until he stopped.

He flopped down on top of me, his knees on either side of me and his arms beside my head. "Yay!" He stayed there just looking at me. As I looked in to his big brown eyes, mezmorized, I forgot everything. How to think, how to breathe, time. My eyes fell to look at his lips. Ugh! I want to kiss him. "WHAT? No I don't! Its Nat!"

Nat jumped up and flung back the covers. "Come on! Get up, Carls!" He pleaded enthusiastically. He grabbed my hand and pulled me down the stairs. We ran to the living room and Nat rummaged through a backpackers on the couch. He pulled out bags of microwave popcorn and candy bars. I knew what he had planned for tonight. "You up for another Netflix night?" He grinned. I nodded happily. "Cool! You pick the first movie and I'll fix the popcorn." He said jogging to the kitchen. While he was busy, I decided on the Breakfast Club. Nat came back with the food and a few cans of soda from the fridge. He sat down next to me and wrapped a blanket over both of us. I leaned against him and rested my head on his chest, sighing happily.

After the Breakfast Club, Nat chose Big Hero 6. I chose the Notebook after that. Half way through I felt my eyelids drooping. I closed my eyes and snuggled into Nat, his scent lulling me to sleep. For the first time in years, I didn't have a nightmare.
