Drowning On Land

I run as fast as my feet can take me. I used to run by my house breathing in the cool misty air. This time I'm not doing it for fun.

Green eyes- did I really see them? Maybe I was just imagining them. I thought I was the only one. Is that why they sent me here? What if Via had colored eyes too?

Suddenly a thought popped back in my head.

Via. You forgot Via.

I gasp and stop running. I had left Via on the floor unconscious!

Before I could turn around a run for her something knocks me on my side and pins me down. I squirm under the weight of something heavy. I can barely breath. Something wraps around my neck. I always thought drowning would be the worst death- it was my worst fear. Being choked is like drowning on land. All the air rushes out of you. Suddenly, your vision gets blurry. Then you drift off. I wasn't going to do the drifting off part though. I shove whatever was on top of me off of me. I tackle it with great speed and pin it to the ground.

It's a girl about my age. Messy, curly hair is spread all across her face so it is hidden from me. She wears a hoodie and smells like fish. She toss and turns from side to side until I see her face. Her face is thin and her nose is big- but not too big. Her eyes are what interests me the most. They are bright green.

There are others like me.
