Night Drive

Author's POV

It was very late when Ino finally completed his task, Ino was visibly exhausted because he politely refused any assistance in taking the curse down. He yawned as he stretched his arms, feeling the sore muscles from fighting.

"Man, my back is killing me," he winced, "That thing really knew how to rough house,"

"At least with this mission, I can confidently say you'll be promoted to semi-grade one sorcerer," Nanami claimed.

"Yeah, you were amazing back there, Ino-kun!"  Y/N's cheering only made him grow even more confident in himself.

"Haha, I guess I was pretty cool, wasn't I?" He smiled proudly, ravishing the compliments.

Just as the three of them were enjoying the pleasant moment, little rain droplets started to fall.

"Oh no, it's raining," Y/N said.

"Y/N-chan, do you need a ride back? I can drive you to-" Before he could finish his sentence, Nanami interrupted. "I'll take her," a beige jacket was hovering over you as an umbrella. Nanami had taken off his jacket to shield you from the rain.

Both Y/N and Ino looked at the older gentleman in surprise. 

"Your house is in the opposite direction from the school while I'm headed in the same direction," the blonde man briefly explained.

"But, Nanami-san, your house is also on the opposite-"  Ino tried saying but the rain got heavier, "Ah, crap. Alright then, I'm gonna head back now," he quickly bowed to the other two and ran towards his car while yelling out, "Thanks for everything, Nanami-san, Y/N-chan!" 

"Drive home safely, Ino-kun!" she yelled back while waving.

"Y/N-chan we should go now," Nanami said.

The moment you were about to head to Nanami's car, a luxurious black car stopped beside the two of them. The door opened, revealing the owner of the car to be Gojo.

"Gojo-san?" Nanami did not expect Gojo of all people to show up.

"Yo!" he got out with a black umbrella and hurried to put it over Y/N's head. "Good work cleaning up the place,"

"Toru-sensei, what are you doing here?" Y/N questioned in confusion, considering he was normally too busy to stay in Tokyo.

"I heard you were given a special task and as the kind teacher I am, I wanted to check up on you," he replied with a grin, only to be met with a blank and somewhat doubtful expression from the other two.

"Oi, why are you looking at me like that?" Gojo asked, switching to a more deadpan tone.

"Nothing," Y/N innocently replied. "Though, Nanami-san had already offered to drive me home,"

"Now, now, N/N-chan. Nanami-kun lives far away from school, it'll take him twice as long to get home if he drives you," Gojo explained.

"Huh, really?" she questioned. "I wouldn't have minded, Gojo-san," Nanami tried to protest, but to no avail,

"Yes, yes, I know. Selfless as always, Nanamin" Gojo teased in his usual playful demeanor. "But let me drive her back. You should go home and get some rest. You've had a long day,"

Nanami sighed and gave in, "Very well, I'll head home"

Before leaving, he turned to Y/N and grabbed her hand before bringing it toward his lips, "Thank you, Y/N" he briefly said, "I hope we meet again soon,"

Gojo raised an eyebrow at the scene in front of him. It was quite unusual for his kouhai to be acting like that. 'Looks like I got a competition,'  he internally snickered.
