As they say in Texas, "Howdy, y'all!" (Yes, I did live in Texas as a teen.) Let me introduce you to the main characters from my contemporary, lower YA novel WHEN WE WERE WILDFLOWERS about the power of friendship... may contain spoilers.
(in order of appearance)
VIOLET WILSON
Thirteen-year old Good girl Violet Wilson is her mother's perfect little princess... until Violet meets Poppy Cooper, a free-spirited young woman who is both well-read and rebellious. Their blossoming friendship brings out the wild side Violet didn't even know was there, and when these girls are together, they are a force of nature.
TEDDY WILSONViolet's 16-year old brother Teddy is good-looking and also kind of a ladies' man. When he takes notice of her attractive best friend Poppy, and puts the moves on her, Violet is quit to put a stop to it. But maybe Teddy isn't such a player after all? He proves his loyalty when their family life moves into troubled waters.
REBECCA WILSONViolet's mom always means business. She's the original girl boss and she has the degree, pantsuit and high-powered job to prove it. She expects to control everything in her children's lives, but one factor she didn't account for is wild child Poppy Cooper.
PAUL WILSONViolet's favorite childhood memories are cruising with the windows down, blasting nostalgic, old country songs like Dolly Parton's hits while riding in the car with her dad. Paul Wilson is an accountant and a self-described nerd who likes mowing the lawn, grilling and watching sports. He's not a perfect man, and he's made some big mistakes, but he loves his kids.
