Fathercame home at around four in the afternoon. This was about the time he would come home on a regular day. I could hear the sound of him kicking off his boots from in my room and decided to greet him. Mother was was already there by the time I had gotten downstairs kissing my father and welcoming him home. Then she pulled out a chair for him in the dining room so he could sit down to rest. Even though he didn't look or act the least bit tired, he took the seat and plopped down with a very loud thud. He laughed after he sat down and turned his head, seeing me standing by the stairs.

"Well hello there love. How has your day been going for you?" I rolled my eyes and gave a sarcastic smile at his question.

"Boring and dull as usual. I basically layed down in my bed all day questioning the meaning of life and why I am not old enough to go out into the world and borrow." I took a seat across from him and rested my elbows on the table and placed my chin in my hands, supporting it before my head fell off my neck from the weight of nothing to do in my life. I saw my mother out of the corner of my eye give me a warning look before beginning to make dinner.

"Well," Father scratched the back of his neck before continuing, "I've been thinking about that lately as well." I raised my head from my palms and my eyebrows perked up as well, waiting on what he would say next. I saw mother giving father and I a stare that could burn the walls of the house down if she wanted, but we both tried to ignore her.

"I've been thinking that you should have a shot at Borrowing." My whole face perked up into the widest grin that I could pull off and I jumped out of my chair and ran to my father.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is the best day ever!" I hugged him while jumping in excitement. I then ran and hugged my mother just for the sake of me being happy. I knew that she wasn't too keen on this but hopefully she'll understand, since she went through a similar thing. Her mother didn't want her to go out and borrow either, but her father finally let her. And plus, that's how she met my dad. Well, technically she was seen and Grandpop, Grandma, and she had to leave the home. Then she met father when they were leaving and mother was trying to find clothes and food. But I'm counting it as Borrowing. That counts, right?

"Dear, I know this is your first time Borrowing and that you want to see everything, but you have to remember to be safe and not to be seen. Or I will never let your father take you out ever again." Mother gave me a stern look but there was a slight softness to it, so I knew that she was slightly okay with this.

"I will, I promise mother." I smiled then turned to father, "When do I start?"

Okay this is a VERY short chapter. I know. But the next one will probably be huge so don't worry. I know that not all of the information seems correct, but there are several renditions of the Borrowers and I wanted to include as much of each as possible in this story.

Also I know that Ariettey's father didn't get squished, but let's just pretend. Okay?

Vote, comment, even share the story if you want to! But please no hate!

Thank you all! Love ya,
