The excitement of the quidditch cup win faded fast as everyone began to prepare themselves for their exams. Even Fred and George, who were in their fifth year, would be taking their OWL's (Ordinary wizarding levels) were caught studying in the library late one night.

Even though she no longer had to go to quidditch practice nearly every night she still had almost no free time after classes. She and Hermione were always stuck in a corner of the common room hidden away by Hermiones giant stack of books.

It had been another long night of study, and they were the only ones left in the common room, when Hope had spotted Hermiones exam timetable lying across the table from her.

"Hermione", she said, "I know they messed up your school time table but they've messed up your exam one as well. Look. You can't possibly be attending three exams at the same time!"

"I told you I've fixed it -"

"Hermione! Don't give me that rubbish again. No one can be in two places at once. What are you going to do?"

"Don't worry I've planned it all out" Hermione began to pile her books together.

"How can you have planned out sitting more than one exam at a time? We need to go speak to McGonnagal about this right now, so that she'll have time to sort it before exams start."

She stood up.

"You don't need too really, I'm telling you I've sorted everything out", Hermione insisted.

"Hermione give me your timetable I'll need to show her."

"No don't."

She snatched it away before Hope could grab it.

"What's the matter with you? Give it."

"No"

Hope made a grab for the timetable, securing a loose grip. Hermione tried to tug it back away from her. Hopes hip slammed into the table as she was pulled forward, she let go of the timetable and Hermione tripped backwards, landing on the ground.

"Are you alright!" Hope gasped, rubbing her hip.

"Yes -"

She tried hastily to tuck a gold necklace down the neck of her robes, but it was too late.

"What's that?", She stuck her hand out and grabbed the necklace out of her hand, to examine it. It was a small hourglass surrounded by two large rings and a button on the side to spin them.

"It's so pretty", she fiddled with the dial on the side.

"Don't touch that!"

She pushed down on the button on the side. The rings around it spun once.

And then Hermione faded into nothing.

"Hermione!"

She looked around the room frantically. No one else was there. What should she do? She should wake someone and tell them what happened.

How would she even explain what had happened?

"I asked you not to do that!"

Hermione had reappeared behind her.

"Hermione!" She threw her arms around her, "what happened? How did you disappear? What is that thing?"

She looked at the necklace which was now hanging openly on Hermione's neck.

"What is that thing?"

"It's a time turner", Hermione sat down and began to pile her books again, "when I push this button - and spin the dial it takes me back in time."
