Thank you to all my readers for making it this far and enjoying this journey with me. What started off as a simple Jean and Diluc idea managed to see its end. This has been my first fanfiction story, and I believe it to be my last.
What was going through my head when writing this story? To start, I originally had planned to make this story more angst and distressful. Jean was actually supposed to run away after learning about her pregnancy without Diluc knowing, causing him to run a full-on search for Jean. To the point that he'd grown obsessed about finding her until he finds her a few weeks short of her giving birth. With Jean refusing the twins upon giving birth, Diluc would have taken his children without her being involved the next few years, and at the very end, Jean would end up regretting her actions of prioritizing her duties and later begs to be a part of her kids' lives. Crazy how I settled for a more happy ending. But I know why I did it.
Not sure if everyone remembers Diluc's event with the hidden letters. But that event and Diluc's past reminded me of a song called Welcome Home by Blessthefall. It was this song and Diluc's event that convinced me to change this story.
What inspired me to write this story? The Diluc and Jean dynamic at the beginning of the game and the subtle hints of their interactions. Diluc was my first 5-star character in Genshin Impact, and I found a similarity in his character to Squall Leonhart (FFVIII), another favorite character of mine. I felt comfortable enough to choose him because of that, but at times, I would catch myself writing too closely to Squall's (cold/withdrawn) mindset instead of Diluc's.
Another reason being I never came across a potential Diluc and Jean story. So, I decided to step in and write a story worth reading for the pair. Not saying mine is the best. I just didn't have any luck finding a good one. (Open for recommendations)
Will I continue to write? Yes. I would like to focus on my next story, being an original concept. This fanfic has given me the opportunity to test and improve my writing techniques. So, I look forward to writing my next project. So I hope to see some of you guys then.
Until next time,
-LiteOne last dedication
