I wake up feeling refreshed after a good night's sleep. As I leave bed, I stretch my arms and legs, trying to shake off the last remnants of sleep. I head to my closet and start rifling through my clothes to find something comfortable and stylish for the day. After a few minutes of indecisiveness, I finally decided on an oversized black t-shirt and brown jeans. To complete my outfit, I grabbed my favorite jacket that my friend Gwen gave me on my last birthday.
The jacket is a stylish baller jacket with a unique design that always catches people's attention. It is half black and half white, with green collared sleeves and neck, which gives it a pop of color.
After getting dressed, I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I quickly styled my hair. I then realized... it was Saturday. Crap. I unpacked the school bag I had packed the night before and lay on my bed, scrolling until a text message from Gwen popped up on my phone screen.
"Hey Pepper! Wanna go to that bakery we talked about yesterday?"
I smile and start texting back.
"sure thing. see u there?"
I wait patiently for her to reply. Then, Gwen's message popped up.
"Yeah! See you there :)"
I grab my messenger bag from my desk and pack my headphones and sketchbook. As I left my room, I saw Aunt May doing the dishes in the kitchen.
"Hey, Aunt May," I greet her with a smile.
"Hello, dear," she replies, wiping her hands on her apron.
"I'm going out with Gwen. We're just going to the new bakery that had just opened up and catch up. I'll see you later," I say, giving her a hug and kiss.
"Alright, just be careful," she says with a concerned look.
"Don't worry, I will," I assure her before heading out the door.
I rush out the front door, taking the steps two at a time. The morning air is crisp and refreshing, and I hear birds chirping in the distance. I take a deep breath and look around, taking in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood.
Walking down the sidewalk towards the bakery, I notice the flowers in the garden beds along the way. They are in full bloom, their vibrant colors against the greenery. The smell of freshly cut grass fills the air, and the sound of cars passing by in the distance is soothing background noise.
As I approach the bakery, my pace quickens. I can smell the freshly baked bread and pastries wafting through the air, making my stomach growl with anticipation. I spot Gwen waiting by the door, checking her phone, and my heart leaps joyfully.
"Gwen!" I wave enthusiastically.
She looks up from her phone, and a broad smile spreads. "Hey, Pepper!" she exclaims, her eyes sparkling excitedly.
We exchanged a fist bump, and both burst out laughing. "I missed you so much," I say, hugging her tightly.
"I missed you too," she replies, returning the hug with equal enthusiasm. "I know we hung out yesterday, but It feels like it's been forever since we hung out."
"I know, right?" I say.
As Gwen and I entered the warm and inviting bakery, the irresistible aroma of fresh bread and pastries filled our nostrils. We sit beside the window, and I can't help but notice the sun's warm rays shining through, casting light on our quaint little table.
Turning to Gwen, I ask excitedly, "So, did you get the science internship you applied for?"
A broad smile spreads across her face, and her eyes light up excitedly. "Yes, I did!" she exclaims.
