«Ever heard about solipsism? »
Y/n raised her head towards Eren, confused, then shook her head. They had spent all morning in the library since they didn't have classes to attend, and Y/n had taken advantage of it to re-enter one of the library's internships since the last contract had ended.
Eren leaned in, his voice low and intense so that she could hear him, and Y/n gave him full attention. «Solipsism is an incredibly powerful philosophical concept that challenges the nature of reality itself. It asserts that the human mind has no valid grounds for believing in the existence of anything beyond itself. »
Y/n's interest was piqued, and Eren continued. «Think about it - if everything around us is just a figment of our imagination, what does that say about the world we live in? Are we truly in control of our own lives, or are we simply living in a dream? Are we... free? »
Eren's passion was infectious, and Y/n found herself drawn in by his words, trying to fully understand what he was saying. «So, basically, it's like saying 'I think, therefore I am' but without any real details about what that even means? » she asked, furrowing her brows, recalling a few lessons of philosophy she had during high school.
«Ah, Descartes, » Eren smiled. «It's a bit more complicated than that, but you're on the right track. The idea is that we can't know for sure if anything outside of ourselves actually exists. And by anything, I mean anything. »
Y/n was intrigued, and Eren knew he had her hooked. «Philosophy may seem like an abstract pursuit, but its implications are far-reaching. It forces us to question everything we think we know about the world and ourselves. And that, darling, is what makes it so fascinating. »
«I think that you philosophers have too much free time. » Y/n teased him, moving a lock of dark hair out of his face, and he smiled at her gentle touch. He loved every detail of her face, the colours of her eyes that shone like gems when she was happy, or how pure and innocent her smile was...
«If everything around me is all my imagination, then you're the best thing I've come up with. » Eren suddenly whispered to her softly, his eyes still lost in the beauty of her face.
Y/n face lit up with surprise and happiness at his words. But she really didn't know how to reply to that. She had never received such a compliment but could expect everything from Eren. Her mind was still racing to process his kind and loving words, and he kissed her hand gently.
For a moment, it felt like the whole world had suddenly stopped: there was no more the noise of the books that were leafed through, and the people chatting around them disappeared.
«Oh, Eren... that's sweet... » Her voice sounded so sweet to his ears. «But I'm still mad at you for cutting your hair. »
She whispered at him, moving back to her computer and notes as if nothing had happened, but with a smile still on his face. Eren rolled his eyes and leaned towards her again to whisper in her ear. «How can I make it up to you, aşkım? Çok güzelsin... »
«Study, Eren. We have to go to Jean's later. And stop flirting with me in Turkish. It's not working. »
«Can I have a kiss? Even a small one? On the cheek? » He continued while his lips grazed on her ear, his perfume was inebriating her, and, for a moment, she didn't want to stop him. But they were in a public space, so he had to hold back. Maybe in a more private area...
«Maybe later. » She stopped him and could feel him smiling against her cheek.
