Ehmel
I was eating Pani puri, savoring every bite, when I suddenly noticed salar in front of me. He was standing there, watching me as I stuffed my mouth full of the delicious snack. I was so embarrassed, I had no idea what he must have been thinking. But before I could even get a chance to say anything, he spoke up.
"Carry on, I didn't see anything," he said with a sarcastic smirk. At first, I was too embarrassed to respond. But then I thought, why should I care what he thinks of me? So I decided to confront him head-on.
"So what if I eat like this? Do you have a problem with it too?" I asked.
"Why would I have a problem with anything you do?" he replied.
Before I could respond, he added, "Why do you care so much about what I think of you?" He raised an eyebrow as he said this.
I was taken aback by his question. I had no answer to give him and I just stood there, feeling my cheeks burn.
"Go to hell, devil!" I said angrily and stormed off. As I looked back I saw him smiling behind me.
I was so embarrassed by the whole incident, and I was also angry at myself for caring so much about what Salar thinks of me.
Later that night
It was almost midnight, and the festivities had ended. All the guests had left and the elders had gone to their respective rooms, A group of us youngsters were talking about the event of the day and some of the future ones.
Suddenly, I started to feel thirsty and so, Hala and I decided to get ourselves a glass of water. But, as soon as I picked up the glass, I felt a sharp pain in my hand. Looking down, I saw a thin stream of blood flowing from my palm and I dropped the glass on the ground. My eyes filled with tears of pain and shock as I saw the deep wound on my hand.
"Ehmel, are you okay?" Hala said, her voice trembling with panic. Suddenly, I heard a voice from behind me. "Oh my God, are you out of your mind, silly girl?" I turned around and saw Salar, his face full of concern and tension.
Without a second thought, he quickly grabbed my hand and put his own napkin over the wound. I was surprised by his actions, as he was usually the one to start a fight with me.
"Can't you be careful? You hurt your hand so bad," he said, his gaze never leaving mine. "Why do you care?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper. "Look at yourself," he said.
Before I could say anything else, Hala interrupted us. "What are you doing, Salar?" she said, her tone harsh. But Salar didn't seem to be deterred. "She's hurt, can't you see that? Now go and get a first aid box," he said, his gaze still fixed on me.
I watched as she quickly went off to get a first aid box, and I felt a strange warmth inside me. He was really concerned.
I looked up and saw Salar staring at me, his eyes filled with concern and curiosity. "How did you hurt your hand?" Salar asked, his brows furrowed in concern. I felt my face heat up as I stammered,
"Umm, I don't know. I was just taking the glass but it was broken and I didn't know it." Salar shot me an incredulous glance. "Are you blind? How can you be so careless, Ehmel?"
Before I could respond, Hala came rushing over. "Salar, you go, I'll do it," she said, her eyes glaring at me. Salar raised an eyebrow at her before taking the first aid box from her. She gave me an angry glare before walking away.
"What are you trying to do, Salar?" I asked, trying to lighten the mood. He looked at me, and started tending to my wound. I couldn't help but flinch as he applied the ointment on my wound,
Salar panicked. "Did I hurt you? Umm, I'm sorry."Salar said, his voice laced with concern. "Thank you for your help, Salar," I said, looking him in the eye.
We both seemed to be lost in our gaze, as if time had slowed down, until Salar broke the silence. "Don't feel special. I was just helping you because you're our guest and my sister's best friend." Then, without another word, Salar walked away.
I was so lost in thoughts, even though salar had said he did it because I was their guest. Yet, his eyes said something else entirely; they were full of concern. It was totally different from the Salar I know.
Taking a deep breath, I said to myself, "What are you doing to me?" I eventually made my way to my room, my mind was in a fog as I tried to make sense of what had just happened. I got changed and washed up,
And when my eyes stepped to my wound, my thoughts drifted to Salar. Shaking my head, I climbed into bed and tried to clear my mind. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't help but wonder what he was thinking, and if he was just as confused as I was.
Next Day,
It was an unassuming morning, one that had not promised any excitement. I got ready quickly, opting for a black shalwar kameez. Just as I was about to leave my room,
Suddenly, I heard a voice from behind, "Ehmel, are you okay now?" I turned to see Raha standing at the door, her face full of concern.
I hesitated for a moment before replying, "I'm fine Raha, but how do you know about my wound? You were already asleep when I came last night, and you woke up before me?"
Raha smiled. "Girl, not only me, but everyone knows. And Salar Bhai? Treating your wound? Aham aham?" She said teasingly.
"Ehmel, you know Salar Bhai never did this before, neither for me nor for anyone. What's cooking aham aham?" She said, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
I felt my cheeks turning red. "Amm ii-t, it's nothing like that," I murmured. "He did this because I'm your friend, right?" I asked hesitantly.
Raha's eyes widened and she laughed. "What my friend? He never did this for anyone, much less for my friends. You know what this means, don't you?"She said.
My mind raced. Did he do this because of me? He had seen me in a vulnerable state and was trying to be kind to me, even though it was out of character for him. I could feel myself grinning involuntarily.
"It's nothing like that," I said hesitantly.
Raha looked taken aback, and then a smile crept onto her face. It suddenly felt like a warm moment between us, a moment of understanding. Thanks for reading my story!♡ Your support means a lot, so please don't forget to vote and leave a comment if you can. I'd really appreciate it!
