You Love Somebody

21 (Eddie)

Eddie was unable to stop smiling at Anna. She had never flown internationally, and definitely never been in first class before. She was impressed by everything, and he made sure she got the first class treatment. From the moment they sat down in their private pod they were pampered. The flight attendants were kind and courteous, possibly a little flirtatious, but he didn't give that any attention.

Anna was snuggled up in a blanket the flight attendant had delivered to make their sleeping arrangements more  comfortable. She came by with a pillow for each of them, but carefully asked if they would be needing one or two blankets; a sneaky way of finding out if they would be cuddling on her watch. 

"Why did she ask if we needed one or two blankets?" Anna wondered, when the flight attendant went back to find them an extra blanket. 

Eddie chuckled. "Because she was wondering if we would be sleeping under the same one." 

Anna gave him a puzzled look until it dawned on her what he meant. "Oh... I thought you said we were safe here," she looked around to see if anyone was watching them. 

"Don't worry Anna. They can't take pictures or anything, Ben will sue the living daylights out of the airline." He took her hand, and laced his fingers with her. 

"Good to know," she said and leaned closer in the seat to kiss his cheek. Before she leaned back again, he grabbed her by the chin and kissed her lips softly. 

"Here's your blanket!" The flight attendant popped into their pod and handed over a blanket to Eddie just as they ended their kiss. There was a moment of realisation on her face, as she witnessed their intimate interaction, and Eddie couldn't stop wondering how many people she would be telling that she saw Eddie Wilde kiss the doctor from his crew. 

"Thank you so much," Eddie smiled warmly at her, making her blush a little. "Would you mind closing the privacy partition for us on your way out?" He flashed his beautiful, dimpled smile at the flight attendant, and she shuffled off all flustered, making sure to close off their pod. 

Anna elbowed him in the shoulder. "Don't make them soft to the knees with that smile of yours." 

"Are you jealous, Doc?" He leaned a little closer, giving her a cheeky look. Anna rolled her eyes at him, and took a sip of the drink she had been handed when they boarded. 

"Maybe..." She said and gave him a pouty look, before she threw her head back and laughed. 

"Are you really going to make me sleep under my own blanket?" Eddie whined and let his fingers walk across her lap, which was covered by her blanket. 

"That depends, will you behave if I let you sleep under my blanket?" She grinned and squirmed under his ticklish touch. 

He folded up the armrest between them, and scooted closer to her. "I try not to promise things I can't keep," he smiled at her with that devilishly charming smile, dimples and all. 

Unable to resist his charm, she let him slide under the blanket with her. He snuck his arm around her, so he could pull her close, allowing her to snuggle into his chest. His other hand linked under her legs, drawing them up so they rested over his lap. 

"That's better," he whispered into her hair. And it truly was an upgrade from either travelling alone or sitting next to Ben, who would normally be his first-class partner when they travelled in a group. Ben had always been his travel buddy. There was a hint of melancholy at the pit of his stomach when he thought about the way he and Ben weren't really getting on these days. They used to spend more time together, laughing and talking. He didn't like the thought of Anna being caught between them, but there was definitely a shadow over their friendship.
