Chapter Six

    Dreams are our emotions, events or circumstances that influence our waking world in one way or another.

    They can either be emotional or mysterious,  our reality or fiction.  We relieve our traumatic experiences through dreams in disguise as nightmares.  They are what our subconscious mind picks up from our conscious mind.

They can be  hurt, fear, happiness,  anger or even our deepest desires. They are emotions we couldn't express in our waking world.

       Ava's POV

Flashback

       ( This may contain trigger warnings)

  I can feel the breeze on my skin and hear the rushing of water in a nearby stream.

   " Hey Ava! Come on, let's go take a swim in the lake." I hear Noah call out to me while rushing down the lake.
"Noah! I call out to him. We shouldn't go there alone without mom and dad. "
I rush out to him.

    " It's not that dangerous,  we are just going to take a swim. Pretty please!" Noah pleads to me with puppy eyes.
" But Noah! Grandma said we shouldn't play down here, it's dangerous.  We could drown." I literally plead with him.

   "Oh come on, Ava! Don't be a sour puss, please! I promise we won't drown and we are just going to swim by the edge." Noah tries to persuade me again.

    "But Noah, we are gonna get into trouble with mom, dad and grandma!" I try again.
"No buts, they won't know if you won't tell them. And besides, we have each other,  don't we?" Noah comes up yo hug me while giving me puppy eyes again.

  "But that's lying and grandma said lying is bad." I pout.
" It's not lying if they don't know. Come on sissy, please! Pretty please! I promise I'll give you my slice of chocolate cake at dinner." Noah pleads again. I start smiling and Noah knows he's won. I mean, I do love chocolate cake. Who can say no to a slice of chocolate cake? Not me that's for sure.

   "Okay, let's go!" I tell Noah and he whispers a 'yes ' and starts removing his sweater and shoes. I do the same and we walk near the edge of the lake and deep our toes inside.

    " Ava, the water is warm! Let's go inside" Noah shouts excitedly and jumps in.
" Noah, no!" I scream out. "Noah! Noah!" I frantically shout as I don't see anyone in the lake.

  I jump inside and feel someone tagging my leg. I screech out and Noah pokes his head out laughing.  " Gotcha!" He starts laughing.
" Hey! That wasn't cool at all. You scared me." I scold him.

" C'mon, let's take a swim sissy." Noah says  as he starts swimming away from the lake's edge. "Noah, I think we should just swim near the edge." I try calling out to him but he's already away.

    I give up and let him have his fun hoping mom, dad and grandma don't find us. We'll  be in great trouble for sure. Amber and Luke went out with mom to the supermarket and left us in dad and grandma's care.

     "Help! Help !" I come out of my reverie when I hear Noah's voice.  "What is it again, Noah."  I'm not doing that again with you. It's not funny!
"Ava, help me!" I hear Noah call out again and I start  panicking .

    " Noah! What's wrong?" I start swimming towards the direction of where he went. I see his little head poking out the water as he tries not to drown. "Noah !" I scream out to him.
" Hold on, I'm coming!" I say to him and try as hard as I can to swim fast as my little hands and legs could let me.

      The water's rushing and it's too hard for me to swim. I try as hard as I can to get to him. " Noah!" I call out to him.
"Ava, help me. The water is moving too fast!" Noah exclaims.

       I try as hard as I can to swim, my little hands and legs are tired. I feel exhausted and I can't swim anymore. I feel water rushing inside my lungs while dizziness takes over me.

       "Ava! Ava, I can't breathe!" Those are the last words I hear before I call out a weak 'Noah' before my eyes close.
