A/N Before you read this, I have to say that this is probably the saddest plot twist of THG that I've ever read, even though I'm all for Team Peeta...I still love Gale.. Read at your own risk!
Months after the rebellion, Katniss and Peeta got married. One day, Peeta had to go on a business trip to District 2. Gale was in 2, though he never saw Peeta. Gale had always wanted to call and hear Katniss' voice again, but he didn't know how. The 2nd day Peeta was in 2 was the day Gale called Katniss. His fingers trembled as he punched in the numbers. The phone only rang once. Then her heard her sweet gentle voice " Peeta" she exclaimed. On her caller ID it said from District 2, so she assumed that it must be Peeta. Gale lost the ability to speak for a moment. "Peeta...." she said softer. "I'm...I'm Pregnant" she whispered. Gale immediately hung up and ran for the woods. Tears rolled down his cheek as he sprinted with the rope in his hand. He finally got to the perfect tree. Slowly, he took his knife and carved something in the tree. Then he hung himself. That night, Katniss was watching the news and saw his body hung on the tree. One little tear escaped her eyes when she saw what he carved on the tree. 'Katniss, are you coming to the tree?'
