I felt myself inching slowly closer to losing my footing in my temper as I consistently thumped on my stepbrother's apartment door with a growing rage. I was unsure why I even bothered to visit this wretched individual in the first place. My distaste for his very existence had accumulated to such a degree that just being near his apartment was enough to make me want to tear my hair out.

"Couldn't this imbecile be occupied with slumber rather than other obligations?" I muttered with a hint of irritation as I consistently tapped on the apartment door with a mounting level of exasperation.

After an agonizing period of time, the door finally swung open, revealing my stepbrother, who looked at me with an expression of annoyance and utter perplexity.

"Why, good morning, sleeping beauty!" I spoke with an overtone of facetiousity, while gazing upon my brother with a smirk. He appeared completely unenthused with my presence, sporting a serious countenance that indicated a lack of enthusiasm towards my presence.

"Why are you here? And what's the deal with all of those baggages?" He said directing his question towards me. "Does mom and dad know you're here?" he enquired with a tinge of doubt.

"Mom and I had a fight, so I'm staying with you for a while." I said, ignoring his question and forcing my way inside his apartment. "Your room is filthy! If I'm staying here, you better clean it up," I added as I placed my bag on the floor. My brother sighed deeply as he watched me step inside, "You're staying with me? No way!", he exclaimed.

"Listen, Naofumi, I'm not exactly thrilled about staying here with you for a while, but there's simply no way I'm going back home!" I said, a mischievous smirk playing across my lips as I sat atop his bed, knowing full well that he'd let me stay here with no trouble. After all, Naofumi was a bit of a pushover, whereas I had a different personality altogether despite him being the older one between us. "So, you cool with it?" I asked with a cheeky tone.

In the end, as expected of a pushover, my brother agreed to let me stay at his apartment, albeit with the condition that I refrain from bothering him. Hmp...As if I would. As I lounged atop his bed, perusing a book, I noticed my brother getting ready to leave. Brimming with curiosity, I faced him, and with a somewhat condescending tone, inquired, "Where are you going?"

"To the library," he uttered, a statement that incited my temptation to chuckle. "Wait a minute...you read books? Huh, who knew?" I exclaimed, utterly surprised by this revelation. "I'm through, alright? I'm going to be away for a while, so goodbye," Naofumi pronounced as he opened the doorway and prepared to leave for the library. But before he could depart, I jumped to my feet and proclaimed, "I'm accompanying you! This book I'm reading has grown tedious, although it's a splendid publication." With that, I discarded the book and beamed, even though tossing away the book did disappoint me due to wanting to continue its peruse. In order to further pester my brother, I would join Naofumi on the excursion.

"Of course you do..." said Naofumi in a slightly irritated tone as he released a sigh and initiated to move. As the both of us walked amidst to the busy lanes of Japan, I couldn't assist but gaze at my brother was appreciating all around, which, admittedly, caused some uneasiness. Naofumi was rather similar to someone trapped up in a prison cell, who was now finally liberated, and was currently marveling at nature for the first time.

The walk towards the library was rather uncomfortable. Naofumi paid no attention to any of my statements even as we entered the building. Upon arrival, once again I followed my brother around. "Aren't you going to look for a book to read or something?" he stated in an irritated tone. "Well, I'm not well acquainted with this location so..."I countered my brother with a sly smirk plastered on my face. "Lis-" Naofumi was interrupted while midsentence, as a random book dropped near him. "Is that a book?"His voice raised as he turned to the fallen item.

"How utterly Gadzooks! A book in the library? Most unfathomable!" I sarcastically proclaimed, ignoring my comment naofumi grabbed the book and studied its coverIs, "it's a fantasy book?" He inquired, casting an incessant stare at the book cover. "And it seems rather ancient as well." I remarked, inching closer to him.

"The four cardinal weapons?" Naofumi uttered, seemingly unfazed by my previous remarks. "Hmmm... The tale of four heroes from diverse realms, summoned to ward off cataclysmic disaster," my brother murmured, immersed in the book. "A light novel, by the sound of it," I stated, perusing the pages alongside him.

To wield a noble weapon is a sacred honor. Each of the four cardinal heroes bears his own distinct armament: the almighty sword, the formidable spear, the swift bow, and the unyielding shield.

"Hold on... wait a second... a shield?" Naofumi exclaimed, puzzled. "A shield isn't even a weapon!" he protested. "Well, not exactly," I retorted, "they can be used to cause damage if wielded correctly. Like in that Captain America movie" Noticing my brother's irritation growing, I reluctantly added, "All right, fine. Carry on," I concluded with a shrug

"Hmm, now who could be the main character?" Naofumi chimed in, puzzled. "It can't be the princess, that's for sure. Just look at her," I interjected, utterly serious. "Huh... the four heroes, perhaps?" I suggested, as my brother continued flipping through the book, the other pages remaining blank. "Why, that's weird... all blank. What's going on here?" Naofumi queried, still confused.

"Who knows, maybe it's a discontinued one," I shrugged, and, as if on cue, the book Naofumi was holding began emitting this dazzling light, growing ever brighter. "Whoa!" I exclaimed, eyes open wide. "Hey, wait a second!" Naofumi shouted, as the light swallowed us up, its intensity skyrocketing. "What the hell?!" he hollered, and we both got sucked deep inside the bright abyss it created, the intensity blinding us.
