In the aftermath of the king's edict, a hush fell over the court, including the spectators who were quietly observing. It wasn't until that moment that I realized I had been unknowingly holding a metal rod the entire time. I hadn't noticed it before, as I had been too engrossed in studying my surroundings.

I stood there, bewildered by the small, metallic rod in my hand. Gradually, it dawned on me that Naofumi and the others all had weapons. I could not fathom why I was the only one without one. As it hit me, the only thing I had been holding was this lone metal rod, I finally became aware of my predicament.

Could the rod serve a greater purpose? Or was it nothing but a simple, insignificant tool? Even more importantly, where was my own weapon?

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted by the king, who cleared his throat and commanded our attention. "Now, heroes, I bid you to present and confirm your statuses," he declared, leaving us five confused as to the purpose of this sudden request.

"Has no one else noticed the tiny icon in the corner of their views?" Ren spoke up, drawing our attention to the previously unconsidered detail. "Try focusing your attention on it," he suggested, and we all did just that.

It was at that moment that I caught a glimpse of a tiny icon in the corner of my field of vision. I shifted my focus to the icon. To my amazement, a window suddenly appeared before me.

The window provided me with a plethora of information primarily pertaining to myself such as my name, age, and level. However, there was one detail in particular that immediately gripped my attention: my designated weapon. Astonishingly, the only tool at my disposal was a simple, metallic rod.

I felt my eyes twitch, a feeling of helplessness overcoming me. How was I supposed to combat these waves with a mere metal stick? Was I to impale my opponents through their eyeballs with this simple rod?

Prior to realizing it, my thoughts began to whirl frantically, and, despite my resistance, I gradually drifted into unconsciousness.

As my eyelids opened slowly, I became aware of my current situation. I was in a room, and a woman was about to touch me. However, upon finally regaining my bearings, I instinctively backed away from her, surprising her.

"Who the hell are you?" I hissed, "And where am I?" I questioned, my tone edged with annoyance as I looked at her with suspicion.

I was subsequently made aware by the woman that I had fainted due to the profound shock I had experienced. As I came down from the peak of my hysteria, the woman cautiously observed my condition and subsequently departed, allowing me to rest and gather myself in solitude.

Once the woman had left me to myself, I reached out with my hand and found that the metal rod was still in my possession. I heaved a deep sigh as I gazed at it in contemplation, wondering if I was perhaps being subjected to divine retribution for some unbeknown misdeed.

As my eyes kept wandering towards the rod, I couldn't help but thoroughly examine it just to be absolutely certain that I hadn't overlooked anything pivotal, like a button that could possibly transform it into an entirely different, concealed weapon.

However, to my dismay, I couldn't detect anything of notable significance. Finally bowing to the truth of my situation, I released another tired breath and slumped onto the bed with a heavy heart. Why, of all the weapons available, did I have to be saddled with a mere metal stick? As if to echo my thoughts, I was hit with the sense of profound disappointment, wishing Naofumi, or any one of the other heroes, had been granted this weapon instead.

In the midst of my deep disappointment, I simply shut my eyes forcefully, determined to drift off to sleep despite my emotions.

While y/n slept, a sudden burst of wind rushed into his room, the power of which seemed to be derived from its passage through the window. Shortly afterwards, the presence of a mysterious man emerged from the shadows, appearing suddenly and unexpectedly at y/n's bedside.

As the mysterious person took position by y/n's bed, an amused smile spread across his face. "It appears that the raven was not deceitful," he mused. "In fact, I can feel an aura emanating from you which is quite similar to that of a certain man... Am I mistaken?" He trailed off.

As the boy lay in slumber, another gust of air suddenly seeped inside the room, causing the mysterious man to become increasingly exasperated with each passing moment. "What are you doing here?" He barked, with no attempt to rein in his growing irritation.

It was clear that the presence of this intruder in y/n's room, as harmless as it may have been, was not welcome by him in the slightest.

{Y/N'S POV}

As the great doors slowly opened, Me, Naofumi and those other three entered to have another audience with the king. Naofumi explained to me why we needed to come here since I had fainted last time. It seemed that the king had gathered some companions for us for our upcoming adventure.

As we walked in, I noticed Naofumi staring at a girl with wavy, semi-long crimson hair tied up in a ponytail, emerald-green eyes, and a youthful, pretty face.

The girl noticed Naofumi staring and returned the favor with a smile. His face turned beat red, and I was tempted to look away in disgust. I was still reeling from our earlier ordeal with the metal rod, and I had no time for this. That level of cheesiness was impossible to tolerate.

Glancing away from the two with irritation, I looked around at the others in line, determined to choose the strongest of them.

Naofumi had warned me that we would not be able to travel together, as the presence of the cardinal weapons would slow down our growth for some mysterious reason. Still, it was imperative that I find reliable allies

"Heroes! Your journey officially commences, right now!" The king's voice boomed, and all the people in line began to walk toward us. "Hold on, wait... so they were the ones who were choosing?" I thought to myself, stunned by the unexpected development.

I was definitely screwed...
