Seraphina
I slipped my heels off, setting them aside, and took a seat on the couch. Thad had entered the room, closing the door behind him. I sensed something was wrong from the moment we left the event.
He had avoided eye contact with me, giving curt responses to my questions. His behavior was disconcerting.
As he walked past me, I reached out and grabbed his hand, making him turn
to face me.
"Is something bothering you?" I asked, concerned about his unusual behavior.
"What do you mean?" he replied, his tone guarded.
"You've been acting strange ever since we left the party. Did something happen there that I should know about?" I inquired, releasing my grip on his wrist.
He looked at me for a moment, then let out a bitter chuckle.
"Is this a performance for fun, or are you just pretending?" he asked, taking a step closer to me.
Confused, I began to respond, "What..."
"Senior, or whatever his name is - the man you're going on a trip with. It
seems like he can make you happier than I can," he interrupted, his gaze locked onto mine.
"You overheard my conversation?" I asked, taken aback by his confession.
"Yes, I did. Is there something wrong with that?" Thad replied, his tone still
filled with frustration.
A smile crept across my face as I realized that Thad was jealous. It had been so long since I had seen him like this.
"Lys is my friend, and 'Senior' is just a nickname I use for him most of the
time," I explained, trying to alleviate his concerns."A friend? Then why are you going on a trip with him? And a man, at that?"
he responded, raising his voice.
"I don't plan to go with him, Thad. I have to return to work. Besides, aren't
you also a man?" I asked, still somewhat amused by his reaction.
"This... is different. We've known each other for a long time, even if you
refuse to admit it, and you are safe with me, Seraphina. But with him, it could
be dangerous," he expressed, gesturing with his hands.
"But I've known him for a long time too, since college," I replied with a grin,
playfully.
Thad sighed in frustration and ran his hand through his hair. His demeanor
shifted, and he became more serious.
"This is not a joke, Sera," he whispered, closing the distance between us. His
eyes bore into mine with intensity, and I quickly lost my smile.
"Thad, I'm not going on a trip with him. I am serious, and we are nothing
more than friends," I reassured him, my voice gentle as I felt his cologne
enveloping me.
"So... what about us?" he asked, and I looked at him, a bit bewildered.
"What?" I inquired.
"You and me... what are we, Sera? You know how you affect me. You make me
feel like I'm losing my mind, and I feel incomplete when you're not around. I
yearn for your touch, your scent, and everything about you drives me wild,"
he admitted, his words close to my face.
I let out a shaky breath as I felt a warmth spread through my body."Thad, I think you're getting something wrong," I began, but he interrupted
me.
"No, you're the one refusing to admit that you're feeling the same way I am,"
he insisted, causing me to fall silent. He was right, I couldn't deny the feelings
