Prompt from tumblr:"I'd like to see one where Stiles is a supernatural investigator happening across his first real submission (like someone tipped him to go there and see something paranormal and it's werewolves)"

***

Stiles leaned back in his desk chair. His dark hair falling across his face. What was the point in being a Supernatural Investigator if there was nothing supernatural to investigate? He blew out a sigh and spun around in his swivel chair. Perhaps he could continue with his research. His boring research that never lead to anything supernatural. He let out a frustrated groan and spun back into his desk. Maybe he'd find something this time.

Pulling up the news, Stiles began looking through the headlines. Same old, same old. Politics... wars... nothing new. Stiles hears his dad on a phone call.  He rises from his chair and eavesdrops, carefully listening from the doorway. A body was found by some joggers in the woods. And get this it was only half the body! Oh, he and Scott were definitely going to look for the other half- His dad calls out that he's leaving, Stiles picks up his phone to call Scott.

His phone starts buzzing in his hand.

It's an unknown caller. He's half tempted to just not answer but his curiosity gets the best of him.

"Hello, this is Stiles speaking."

There's light breathing on the other line.

"Are you the investigator?" A man's gruff voice calls out.

"Eh you make me sound really cool, not that I'm not. But yes," Stiles clears his throat. "I am 'the investigator' if you are looking to investigate something extraordinary, supernatural you could say."

The man grumbles, and there's a pause before he speaks again. "Would you be interested in a case?"

Stiles is ecstatic, he's never gotten a paid case before. Hell he's never even found a proper case before. He legs are bouncing up and down and the man on the line clears his throat clearly expecting an answer.

"I'll need the details first. Don't want to agree to something I normally wouldn't." Stiles says. He would've jumped on the chance to actually act for once but he didn't want to get ahead of himself. This man could be a murderer for all he knew.

The man on the other ends sighs. "My sister was killed, I know it wasn't anyone... human. I need you to find out who did it." The man answered. Stiles nodded frantically then upon realising the man couldn't see him, he agreed.

"Yeah I can work with that. Depending on the scale of things, I'll tell you the price after I figure it out. Say, we can start tomorrow. Any time suits me. Now this doesn't mean I'm fully accepting, I need more details and I'm not very good over the phone." Stiles stops his ramble not wanting to dump too much stuff on the man.

The man grunted. "Fine by me."

"Great! Em... how about 3pm at the new cafe? Argent Coffee?" Stiles tried to not sound too excited.

"No." The man said almost immediately. "You can come round to my place at 5. I'll text you the address."

The caller seemed to be getting ready to hang up so Stiles stumbled out, "Wait! I never got your name."

A pause.

"Derek. Derek Hale."

"Alrighty Derek, I'll see ya tomorrow at 5." Stiles said, wondering if this guy was gonna murder him tomorrow. He'd tell Scott just in case.
