It had been 12 days since he trapped Rainbow Steve. 8 since he more or less corrupted the Steve, and 3 since the Steve attempted to speak to him. In his free time, he did managed to 'translate' what Rainbow had said—in reversed English, he told Sabre to not trust the Elder. As if that helped him, as if he trusted the Elder at all.

Sabre sighed and stretched. He had a plan of what to do today, but for some reason, he didn't want to do it. Maybe it was just a lack of motivation; he didn't know. But he'd get it done anyway.

There was still lightning going on in the background. He figured that was Rainbow Steve, so his best bet was to bring the lightning to the machine. Thankfully, he had prepared many, many buckets of lava for that. He glanced to the machine, and then frowned.

Yellow and Purple Steve were both gone. He looked around, but considering their abilities, the odds of them being anywhere close to this location was slim. He just breathed out a sigh. He would be frustrated if he wasn't so tired. Frankly, all he wanted was to find Rainbow and get this plan over with.

Filling his inventory with lava buckets, he began to trek towards the lightning. Since Rainbow Steve was weak to lava, he'd use it to bring him to the machine, slowly but surely. It didn't take very long to get to the lightning, which confused Sabre a bit. If Rainbow Steve was afraid of Sabre, why stick so close?

He ignored the questions and dumped a bucket of lava onto the grass. The lightning immediately shifted a few feet away, not enough to make much progress. Sabre groaned. This would take all day. He poured another bucket of lava and began inching the thing towards the machine.

Maybe 15 minutes later, he finally got the lightning to stand on the pedestal. Wasting no time, he surrounded the pedestal in lava and turned it on. He waited through a few seconds of loud lightning before Rainbow Steve appeared, finally. Now all Sabre had to do was separate him. Relief washed over him, since the hard part was finished. Yet he still felt a sense of hesitance, and he couldn't pinpoint onto why.

His gaze fell onto the rainbow colored Steve locked into his machine. He couldn't understand why he felt near dread looking at him. He approached the machine and looked down at the lever. If he pulled this, Rainbow Steve would be gone, and he'd have his answers. And, best of all, he wouldn't have to deal with an enemy wanting him dead.

...still, why did he not want to?

He shook his head fervently and looked away, using his foot to flick the lever. He stepped back and let the lightning strike, refusing to look its way. Sabre's ears popped from the close proximity. He watched as the cells were filled one by one with different colored Steves, all of which taken from Rainbow. He didn't have to look behind him to know Rainbow Steve was gone.

Sabre grumbled and wandered away. He could do for a small walk right now.

If he would have looked, maybe he would have seen a white figure standing where Rainbow Steve once stood. But if he would have looked, certainly he'd regret it.
