Ozen took in all the facets of the family's unfamiliar living space. The light fried her back as the sun became more engrossed with her dark exterior. The Sovereign illuminated angelically over the children, the sisters enamoured by the figure intruding on the couch space, their blank stares unnoticed as she looked over the cabin's interior. A bookshelf missing books, framed pictures familial and artistic, an ocean-coloured transparent object: to her knowledge, a TV.
"Is there anything you two want to do?" With a deep inhale, The Sovereign's attention lowered to the children. Ozen's forehead rested into her fist, lazily staring at the pair, her teeming disinterest seen by the older sibling.
"Huntress!"
"What?"
"Train us to better huntresses!"
"...thats all you want?"
"All we want?!" Exclaimed the young redhead, teeming with eagerness, rising to her feet as she preached the goodwill of huntress and huntsman alike. In between her speech recounting the "totally awesome" moments from her family's occupation were the exclamations of fairy tales and their similarities to the former. Yang stared in mild admiration while the Sovereign remained cold, Ozen's uncaring gaze lingering over Ruby, herself casting shadows atop the aspiring huntress.
"So anyway, you should train me and Yang to better Huntresses! Because... It'd be awesome! And we can be like Mum and you!"
Pondering Ruby's proposition, The Sovereign's thoughtfulness quickly vanished, replaced by giggling and laughter. Despite her rudeness, neither sister appeared irritated as they continued to observe in confusion.
Ozen's interest peaked. So long it'd been without her apprentice, and although she remained with his best interests in mind, this passing opportunity may never come again, more youth to be sculpted.
"I'll teach you both to become huntress." Ozen met Yang's eyes, the older sibling timidly holding her gaze against the Sovereign as her sister paraded their coming practice. An expected sinister smile washed over Ozen. It remained unnoticed by the redhead who'd continued to march; Ozen's mutuality resumed as she instructed the pair outside. Ruby willingly followed whilst the eldest remained firmly aware of the Sovereign's huddled shuffling and creaking behind her.
The grass scrunched beneath the three, an open space encircled by countless trees and flora surrounded them, nothing but woodlands endlessly.
"Ruby, Yang.
"What would you like to learn first?"
"Anything!"
"Anything?" She couldn't help but laugh at the sister's request. "You'll start by challenging me."
"W-what?" Yang remained a spectator to her sister's bubbly antics. However, with the advent of Ozen's training, they were both met with equal unease and distress. Instinctively, the older sibling stepped forward, her voluminous blonde locks blocking her sibling, as did her small frame.
"W-wait, you're not hurting Ruby." Yang rebutted with shaky determination.
Ruby's ambition for being a huntress doubled, tripled even, throughout the Sovereign's stay. Having an additional huntress inside their cabin, alongside it being the one to directly save her mother, filled her with childish ambition and respect. She lacked the understanding of many things, and despite that, tears crept out and onto her eyelids, fully knowing of the coming tribulation.
"I have no problem with that. Instead, you'll take the brunt of my lessons. Just don't cry if I hit you too hard. Seat Ruby somewhere else."
With the younger sibling placed away from the assumed battle area, the faux huntress and momentary student prepared. The Sovereign stood with head held high. A faint smirk stained her grey flesh with her tiredness betraying her; Ozen's eyes smudged in charcoal circles lightly formed around her eyebags.
